a good old-school pant
what this pant has going for it:* made of 100% cotton duck* made of 0% anything else* broad color selection rather than just "brown or black"* straight stitch construction on the inside leg seam (versus a triple-stitched flat-felled inside seam. i explain my rationale below.)why each of these was an important factor to me:nylon, poly, and flex materials are more prone to unsightly pilling in high-wear areas. flex materials specifically (spandex, elastane, etc) will eventually wear out within a couple years resulting in a slouchy fit.cotton duck OTOH is widely regarded as both being more resilient, but at the same time, lighter, than denim. much like those popular duck cotton work jackets, these pants are so stiff that they can basically stand up on their own when new. but like high quality shoes, i expect them to take on a wonderful patina and softness as they get broken in.the straight stitch inside leg seam means that someone like me, who really only knows how to do straight and zig-zag machine stitches, can easily and cleanly tailor the legs into a slightly slimmer, tapered modern cut if you so desire.while not having triple-stitched seams on both the inside and outside seems like a quality downgrade, i have never owned a pair of pants that gave out on the inside seam, so this is a worthwhile compromise for me.specifics of fit and construction that may work for me but not for you:this is a fairly mid to high-rise pant. they sit at my belly button, which i find more comfortable than lower rise pants that sit more on the hips. i found they fit pretty well through the seat and thigh (stocky leg day physique), but i did slightly slim up the legs from the knee down for a more tailored, neat look.i will fess up to being a "blue collar cosplayer" who intends to wear these for general use rather than rugged jobsite work, as i can't justify spending $100 or more on a fashion offering that adds inflated cost by branding itself as a "vintage" design. thus, i cannot give any meaningful feedback on the resilience of this fabric. but it feels of equivalent quality to every major duck chore/field coat out there.anyway, if you're looking for what should be a long-lasting piece, in a synthetic-free fabric, give these a shot. especially if you have an affinity for clothes that actually get better with more wear.

Good work pants.
I have owned probably 8 pairs of these over the last 4 years. In general they have been good to wear. I am hard on pants due to the work I do as well as my overall build, so I have tried a lot of different types. The black color are by far my favorite as they seem to hold up the best, with the chocolate brown being a close second. You cant give everything a perfect score though. I have noticed that between colors and variations, the sizing tends to differ a lot. I have put an older pair of these up against a brand new pair and have seen as much as a 2" difference in the waist and the length. They also have pretty poor zippers that tend to get jammed up easily and will rip teeth out. I have also had a hard time keeping the crotch from ripping out of these, but it only seems to happen on certain colors.Overall, I will continue to buy these and wear them until the fall apart.

Dickies Pants - loose fit
This was one of my best purchases lately. My husband loves these pants. They fit well. They weren’t too pricey. They didn’t shrink. And the cotton fabric isn’t as heavy as jeans which will be nice in the warmer months to come.

Tight waist. Huge everywhere else
Ordered one size up waist to a 38 as most others suggested. The 38 waist fits like a 36. But everywhere else feels like a 42. They’re laughably baggy. Despite the size. The quality is excellent. Very strong material for construction and garage where I use them. Fraction of the cost of the best selling construction wear.

Great pants
These are great for working in the woods. protects against some gnarly briars and won't rip. heavy canvas material. not ridiculously hot. I am soaked with sweat in the Alabama summer 5 minutes in but these don't make me sweat any more than my default "soaked" level. lol. The rip in the pants is from a chainsaw that knicked my leg. thankfully these jeans kept my arteries safe! highly recommend!

Perfect
High high quality jeans buy more then one if you can. I wore a pair doing pavers, operating heavy equipment and they lasted throgh it all... i mean they should of been torn up by now and smelly and more beat up but they lasted 7 months worth of harsh working condition. These jeans survived and have me returning for more... i was unware of the dickies even selling a high quality pair of jeans, 1st pair bought 2 years ago (washed every week color still holding up and all the above) and so, yes, they lasted for me and i will buy more... I've been wearing dickes since 1995

Seem like nice pants
My pair of these just arrived. Tried them on and they seem nice. Ordered them with a 34 inch waist and they actually have a 34 inch waist, which is fabulous (other pants I've bought recently in a 34 inch waist have actually had a 36 inch waist, which really frustrates me). These are made out of proper, stiff, durable-feeling canvas, which may not be to everyone's liking, but I personally see it as a positive as a lot of pants nowadays feel like they're made out of table cloth fabric. The fact they're stiff also means they can be cuffed at the bottoms without the fear of the cuffs unravelling. These are a bit higher waisted than what I'm used to, but it's not a problem. It's just something new to me. Also, as another reviewer pointed out, if you buy these in desert sand, they are darker than what is shown in the pictures. Instead of being a greyish beige, they're more of a khaki. Personally, I'm happy with the colour of them, but they really should update the pictures to better reflect the colour you can expect when your pair arrives. As for fit, it's a pretty standard relaxed fit. If you've ever worn a pair of Levi's 550's, the fit of these will be familiar to you. Not baggy, not tight. The fit is just right... Hey, I'm a poet and I didn't even know it :D
