Fits like a glove
I was worried about some reviews saying these square trunks are a size or even two too tight. I don't have small thighs, and I just moved down to a 34 waist. But these 34s were on a sale, so I took the small risk. Right away it fit like a glove, to my surprise, similarly to my 20+ year old size 34 bikini Speedos, which I haven't worn in decades but tried on for comparison. Style is more flattering than others' photos led me to believe. Perfect length. It was snug, meaning the elastic compressiin was working, most snug at the thighs, but comfortable, which I think is how it's supposed to fit to perform. Also, the front is double-lined so the package area is tamed and smoothed. Swimming feels effortless, no drag or distraction. Jacuzzi soaks are so comfy. The fabric doesn't snag when sitting on a somewhat rough jacuzzi finish and bubbles don't form a donut in the front, finally! Fabric quality feels top notch so I may get good use out of these for a long time. 6'2"+ 205 lbs at the moment, for reference. Reasonably athletic build, but body types vary so your fit may differ. All considering, a steal at $35 and many times better than the cheapie trunks I got last year for about $20.

So far, great!
Note: written by Mr. Ginger Mommy I have only worn the suit about 4 or 5 times as I received it a little more than a week ago, so I cannot speak to how well the suit will hold up over time. The fabric very stretchable and clings well to the body without the bagginess or sagging that had developed in an older speedo suit made of lycra. I am hoping the 100% polyester of this suit will stand up well to heavy chlorine in my local indoor pool. Even so, I take much more care to thoroughly rinse out this suit in the shower before letting it dry; I really like the way it fits and want it to last a long time. It looks good, the fabric is substantial (but not too thick) and the speedo logo is embroidered rather than an iron-on. This is good for someone who thinks knee-length jammers are too long and briefs are a bit too revealing. I have no complaints, and judging by the fit, finish and general quality I will be happy for some time to come. I swim three to five times a week for 45-65 minutes each time. Also I ordered the 34-inch waist and I wear a 32 or 33 inch waist in jeans. My reasoning is I didn't want it to be on the verge of too tight and have "muffin top" and I could always use the drawstring to tighten the waist if need be. The stretchability of the fabric is good enough that it is not loose at all and I don't need to use the drawstring even I probably could have gotten away with one size smaller.

Good quality!
Speedo makes good quality swim clothing and these are not the exception. They fit my husband well and these photos are after what has been many washes and wears. The one thing that stops the five stars is that these were purchased to replace an old pair of Speedo Endurance swim shorts and the quality isn't exactly at the same level. We couldn't find a pair that were the same quality or appearance! He bought them years ago in Europe so I am not sure if there is just a decline in overall quality or if the selection here in the USA is less for swimwear. Overall--happy with this purchase!

Speedo still makes an excellent, very durable short trunk for sprinting.
Love the short trunks: way better for sprinting and general comfort. I ticked "Fit As Expected" because unless you're ripped at the time, they ALL seem too small. They will relax a bit, though, and do put 'em on wet for a bit more ease. These are if anything, more durable than ever. They really hold their fabric and color day after day. Granted, they are heavily built, thus not too stretchy. I've found Speedo to be my go-to for 20 years, and I'm grateful I can find the shorter trunks, as the long ones just feel klunky to me. Great lasting, non- flashy workout gear! So happy they're not day-glo orange.

Nice snug fit, low drag, high speed
These fit true to my normal pant waist size. They're snug, but that means they're not going to move around while I'm swimming. Once I'm swimming they don't feel tight at all and don't restrict my movement. So far the material is holding up really well and they dry faster than longer jammers or shorts.

Great shorts, bad sizing recommendations
I have to say that these are great swim shorts. They are very well made and truly make a huge difference over beach trunks when swimming laps. That being said it's only 3 stars because WTH is up with sizing Speedo? As others have said they run a size small. I wear 33/34 in all jeans, khakis, shorts, dress pants but ordered a size 36 and they were just right; perfectly snug but not too tight, as you'd want when swimming. Speedo's site recommends that for a size 34 waist you order a M/32. A 36 is a size L/34 according to their sizing chart. The box I got said size M but inside was the size 36 I ordered so there's some mismatch with sizing and boxing. I ended up getting the right ones but at $30 it seems like finding your correct size would be easier.

A bit to small

In few weeks it is going to be a year since I got these for my daily swimming routine (30 min/day). They holding up well against the chlorine. I started thinking of another pair because seams are fading. Fabric itself has not faded a bit. Inside is laid with a soft liner in the privates area. Water soaks through but not free flowing during entry or swimming which makes for a relative comfort in a cold pool. They are running > one size tighter, I am 32-33 and initially ordered 32..... not funny.... Returned instantly and re-ordered in 34, it is still quite tight/firm but not cutting the blood flow like 32 did. If you are 33-34 then 34 will be tight. I am rather slim/average 176cm/75kg. These do help swim faster if you compare to Bermudas or other beach/casual shorts, you will like the improvement in your lap time. That's about it. love reviewing the things I love.

I normally wear size 34 or 36 jeans (depending on the brand). After reading reviews, I decided to order size 38 of these swim briefs (because many reviewers recommend getting a size up), and they feel great. I don't quite have a belly, but I have a bit more fat above the waist than I would like to have, so I did not want the briefs to be too small and too tight; that could look pretty comical on my body. Size 38 is sitting just a bit tightly, but not very tightly. The waist is also not too low, and I can squat comfortably in these briefs, without risking exposing too much of my back. I'm actually much happier with the fit and the look than I expected. The Endurance+ fabric is praised in every swimming related chat room for its longevity, so I have high expectations of long service life. I swim indoors 3 times a week, I'll update if my opinion of these briefs changes.
