Life saver
I am a first year cancer survivor. Our dog’s claws, even though we have them trimmed once a month, would cut through my arms like butter. It was very important to get this stopped. Our groomer suggested Soft Paws and we have used them everv since. Remarkable product!! Saved my arms! I am happy, the vet is happy, the groomer is happy and my doctor is happy!!! Superior product!

Would not recommend for long term use without breaks between uses.
We purchased these for our 4 year old border collie, in order to protect our hardwood floors. At first, they seemed like an excellent solution - each set lasted appx 2-3 weeks, depending on how hard he ran on them. For a well behaved dog, putting them on wasn't difficult, and I was careful to check the nails afterwards to make sure that no hair had stuck to the caps & that his pads weren't sticking at all - as careful as I was with the glue, sometimes a little would end up coming out. Occasionally a cap would come off & need replacement & eventually he would start to wear the ends of the caps off, signaling it was time to trim his nails & replace the caps. One thing I did observe when changing the caps out, was that the inside of his nails seemed very soft & spongy - I assumed this was normal, considering he wasn't hardening his nails by running around on them anymore. A couple of months in, I started noticing that he was limping. After eliminating the possibility of injury, I started to question the nail caps. We were able to narrow it down to one of his toes - It took a huge amount of patience & care to remove the nail cap, as it was clearly very painful for him. Once removed, I noticed that the core of his nail was hollow and bloody. I left that cap out so that the nail could air out & heal, but within a few days he was limping on another foot. Same issue - removal was clearly very painful for him, and once again it appeared that the core of his nail was almost rotting out. At that point I removed all the caps from his nails & left them off for good. His limping cleared up very quickly & he has very healthy nails again. We will be looking to other solutions to protect our hardwood, as I would never put him through that again. In conclusion, I would use these again if I planned on taking at least a 2 week break between applications in order to let the nails breathe and harden naturally. I would never go straight from one set to the next again.

2 XL good for 80 lb Lab
I ordered these prior to visiting my sister. I was concerned about the weight of my dog and the effect his nails have on hard wood floors. Based on reviews I sized up and ordered the XX-Large Soft claws and they fit very well. Prior to applying the nails, I cleaned his paws really well and made sure that his real nails were trimmed properly. Then I squeezed just a small amount of glue around the top of the soft claws instead of filling it 1/3 of the way up like the directions recommend. You have to squeeze the soft claws open a little to get them on the nail, however this makes sense as they need to fit kind of snug in order to be secure and stay in place. Our dog is very active and spent a week running on concrete (which rubbed the soft tips down a little, but didn't allow his own nails to poke through), and swimming in her pool. The glue and nails held up to his active shenanigans and my sister's concerns were completely put to rest. Upon leaving, I ended up removing the nails, which were somewhat difficult to get off, but all in all we were very happy with how they performed. I would not recommend getting these for your dog to wear all the time, as the soft rubber doesn't allow their own natural nails to breath and may damage them in the long run, but for short trips (1-2 weeks) they work like a charm.

Works for my purposes with modificaiton
I bought these to save my hardwood floors from my whizzy 10 month old Doberman. Even if her energy was quickly redirected to an outside game of fetch she would leave cougar like scratches on her way to the back door. Although they work well, these things do prevent basic claw maintenance. I keep my dogs claws trimmed and filed and with these on, like others have pointed out, there is no claw trimming for a couple of weeks leading to longer quick and other issues. My solution was to trim my dogs claws, file them, put on the caps with a good amount of glue and then carefully trim off the rubber tips so the claws are left with a ring of rubber around the ends. They obviously don't stay on as well as a tip full of glue but surprisingly they lasted a week plus with only 2 coming loose...and that was while digging so really what would stay on? Now, I just trim the rubber along with the claw until it comes loose and then repeat. Floors are still getting quite a bit of protection and my dogs claws are at a healthy length. The downside.. these require constant inspection and a steady supply of glue and caps which in the long run add up to a not inconsiderable expense.

Durable and easy to use!
I have a dog with a neurological disorder that causes her to drag her front claws just slightly. She wears down her claws and they become so painful, she limps and can barely walk one block. My dog absolutely loves to walk, so sore nails were cutting in to her miles considerably and she was a very sad girl. The vet suggested soft claws. I rolled my eyes at puting fake nails on my dog, thinking they would never stay on- but they really are an amazing product. They come with special glue and slide right on over her worn down claws. My dog doesn't love having them put on, but they do not bother her once they are on. These little soft claws will last through a few 6 mile walks/ runs for her without any issue at all. If you find they fall off too easily, you might not be using enough glue. We absolutely love this product for the quality of life it gives my sweet girl so she can get her beloved miles in along the lake. My dog is a 57 lb. mixed breed. About the size of a small lab. XXL is the perfect size for her.
