I bought both the 8" and 10" PDP Mini Timbales
I bought both the 8" and 10" PDP Mini Timbales to supplement my 5-piece kit. Being a new drummer, I didn't want to drop a ton of money before I had some real drummer chops, and PDP, being an offshoot of DW, seemed a reasonable compromise. The difference between the 2 brands, as I understand is that PDP is the more "line manufactured" of the two, where DW is mostly about custom, but the engineering for both is similar. Each timbale ran me about $50 a piece. Excellent cost-to-value.I gotta say I'm pretty pleased with these timbales. The are solid and well built, no discernible defects, nice steel shells, and the stock heads (to my ear) aren't bad either. They arrived in about 5 days (super saver) and were packaged nicely. Both drums needed to be tuned up "timbale tight" (uses just a regular drum key for tuning), and both mounted nicely to my DW cymbal straight/boom stand using (2) individual Sound Percussion SPH03 Adjustable L-Rod Ball Clamp, 10.5mm rod - 1 clamp for each timbale.NOTE: The rod you need for these is the 10.5mm (approx. 3/8") width rod - THEY WILL NOT FIT ON a 1/2" rod (trust me, I know this for a fact :)I've got these guys mounted to the left of, and nestled in flush w/ my 12" tom, just behind the snare and between the hi-hats and the toms (I'm right-handed). Makes 5-point fills very easy for me. (Again, I'm a new drummer, so I'm still figuring things out as I go).I would absolutely recommend these mini timbales to anyone looking to accessorize their stock kit without dropping a huge chunk of coin.

Better than the DW Piccolo Tom for less money?!?
I first tried an 8" DW Piccolo Tom and didn't like it. The bracket didn't fit my 10.5mm tom mounts (it needs a larger 1/2" DW L-rod), and I had trouble getting several different brands of 8" heads to fit the shell properly. I eventually returned the DW and purchased this 10" PDP mini timbale for less money. I actually like the PDP much better. The 10" has a better tuning range, so I can fit this into my kit as a substitute for a 10" tom OR I can tune it higher like a timbale for more of an effect. In any case, the only downside is that the mounting bracket on the PDP is a bit crude compared to most full-fledged tom-mounting brackets, but I'm willing to overlook it!

Can be used as a rack tom of sorts
I love this and use it as a tom drum. The tom I had was simply too big and I got this to replace it. Very heavy duty little drum and you can replace the head for more of a tom drum sound. This goes great with my little cocktail drum kit I assembled on my own using various drums I purchased used.

Not the drum for tight spaces
I would not re buy this drum. It is a big drum for a tight space. And the sound doesn’t not get as crispy as I personally would like for it to do. Besides that it would make a good drum.

Great little addition
I've been looking for a small roto/timbale crack to add to my set for a while and I finally found these and decided to try it. Glad I did. They're perfect for adding that high accent and really get your attention. Finding a good mount with good angles of adjustment might prove challenging, especially if you try to get around it on the cheap side. I was able to use a half-way decent/cheaper style hoop mount attached to my floor tom above my right knee, where a kick-mount cow bell would normally go and it's perfect. Not sure how long these have been around but I wish I had these a long time ago.

A surprisingly excellent value.
I wanted to add a 10" piccolo tom to my kit. I was ready to purchase one made by DW at more than twice the price of this mini timbale. So I came across this little gem on Amazon. At less than 50 bucks, I thought it was too good to be true. Man, I couldn't have been more wrong. This thing is made out of good quality materials with an excellent fit and finish. I replaced the original head with another I had laying around. And I could not be more pleased. Now I'm considering an 8" to go with it.
