Learn Clip Studio Paint: A beginner's guide to creating compelling comics and manga art, 3rd Edition

I've been using CSP to create professional manga for over 10 years and still learned new things from this book. The chapters are organised clearly so it's not a struggle to look for a quick reference on specific topics. The instructions are written in simple, straight forward language, though kids might struggle to understand some of the jargons. Having said that, I would still recommend my manga class students (kids, teens and adults) to purchase this book, so when they've forgotten the things they've done in class, they can look it up themself.I think the price is reasonable and would be well worth the investment especially for those who'd only started using the software for less than 5 years. CSP gets updated from time to time with added new features, but the book covers the basic features that never gets changed. You can look up tutorials online for free but this book takes away the hustle and will save you time wasted on badly written tutorials online.

The book covers the more technical aspects of both creating artwork digitally and explains the digital steps required when creating art via computer in a clear and visual way.The instructions are delivered in paragraphs for easy digestion; the styles are visually explained with accompanying images for the reader to understand quickly. The book is huge - this does not mean the content is intimidating, rather that the book is good value for money as it covers so many features Clip Studio now contains.This is a great reference book for all users. Even longtime users of Clip Studio (way back when the brand was “Manga Studio 3”) readers will find there is still a lot to be gained from this book and content is clarified in an accessible way. Readers won’t have any problems going through the points per chapter themselves; with this manual by their side, it clearly takes them through each step confidently. The book highlights each action and explains why and how each step per chapter makes everything easier to create modern digital artwork, even for seasoned veterans.The book will be a great motivator to help artists create illustration work as well as sequential artwork (comic book pages, making comics and exporting them ready to be printed as well as to be read via digital platforms). It explains clearly how layers of a digital file work and the intricacies of loading brushes and adjusting the effects per tool. Colour effects are explained and there are also sections about animations as well as using built-in and downloadable 3D files, plus other assets, to use as digital support tools.
