They need to be sharper.
These tongs are extremely durable. I would imagine they'll last forever. But the points just aren't sharp enough. They can be a major pain to use because the points don't want to dig past the tree bark and into the wood. I've had them slip off many times, even after beating them into the wood with a hammer. I've tried tying a bungee cord around them to keep tension on them, which works sometimes. The thing that worked best, however, was getting out my file and sharpening the points of the tongs. They bite much better after that, and I'm very happy with them when they work.

Great piece worth every penny!!!! going to buy a smaller one
I've read where others say they bent. That's because you cant and shouldn't use them to turn a log or topple a log. I used the 32 inch tongs and pulled logs with an electric 3500 lb winch up a 6 ft ramp .onto a small dump. The pieces where 50 plus inches across and 30 to 60 inches long and the tongs worked perfects The trick to set them was use a smaller log on each side or your piece to elevate the tongs points evenly across from each other. This helps the tongs pull squarely and evenly so there isn't twisting which tongs are not intended for. I then use a hammer to set the points and apply some pull then again hammer and hard set the points My expertise construction 35 years and heavy equipment and use chains and hoists

worth every penny
I salvage logs out of the local river, sometimes in the mud, other times in strong current. I used to have to get a tow strap around the log, which is VERY difficult sometimes. I pulled my first log with my new tongs this morning... AWESOME!!!! So easy! The log was black walnut or butternut, waterlogged in the mud, about 30" in diameter and about 10' long, weight has to be 1500-1800#. Hooked the tong on the log, with out getting in the mud and pulled the log up and out with my tractor. My new best log tool!

Works Great, No Problems At All
Awesome purchase. I can't tell you how happy I am with these tongs. I used them to haul out some 24"+ red oak logs, some 30" pine logs, and others. I pulled them uphill, downhill, around bends, down in creek bottoms and back up. These tongs held the logs the entire time. They made what I thought was going to be a tough job easy. The loop at the top is large enough to place on my quick hitch hook so I could get on and off very easily. These things are strong!

Why didn’t I buy them sooner
Outstanding. These tongs bit into a piece of lumber that was too heavy for my tractor the front end of the tractor came at least 2 feet off the ground and the tongs still held for me to gently lower the front and back down. Rock solid and way faster than choking every log

Good quality
Quick delivery, great price. Looks to be made of good quality. Have only used it on smaller timbers so far. Works great on them. Still testing.
