Exactly what was needed
Took me all of about 45 minutes in the cold Indiana winter to change mine. Most of the time was spent taking off the door cover. 20 year old truck in the cold; things are expected to be brittle. It may not be a bad idea to have some extra door clips on hand. I didn’t know what type they were so I just hoped I wouldn’t break too many. I’m not sure if this handle has been changed in the past but I did not have to drill out any rivets to remove mine. I put a screw in the back hole to keep it from wiggling around. That may be a contributing factor to its demise. If you look at the pictures you can see what goes wrong with these handles. Mine was metal just like this replacement but it is still just pot metal. It can be expected to fatigue over the years. Comparing this replacement to what was there I expect this to last for many years. I’m happy with it and will probably replace the other side when it gets warmer. It also is exhibiting some difficulties in properly engaging the latch mechanism.Handy tips:Note how the handle doesn’t quite sit properly in the picture. It was still possible to sometimes open the door by pulling hard in a kind of twisting motion. This probably contributed to the shearing of the pot metal. I don’t think there were many more openings left in this handle. You can do this entire project with only a couple screwdrivers. You will probably have a Phillips for the arm rest. Use a tiny flat blade to catch the lock ring on the window crank. Then a quick push will have it popped off. Find it and put it back on the crank. It will just pushes back on with it in its slot. A larger flat blade will get under the door panel and you can carefully pry at each clip or just pry it up far enough to get your fingers under and give it a fast hard yank straight out. I know it sounds brutal but the plastic doesn’t like to be pried on. The clips will either break or pop out either way.Have a drill handy. You may need to remove a rivet to get this out. Have a variety of small screws available to replace this rivet. This is why you have a coffee can full of nuts and bolts.Look at your door hinges. If they are worn out it makes the weight of the door rest on the latch assembly. This is why you are pulling so hard on the door handle. Look at the striker. Do you see wear on the top? That’s from the door hinges.

Perfect replacement
Bought an old tahoe, every single door handle was dicked, some opened only from the outside, some opened from the inside.. was like trying to solve a damn rubix cube to get in the truck..Bought 4 of these, and 4 new outer handles to match. Took a couple hours to complete but I can go in and out any door i want which makes life easier.10/10 recommend and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase again. Quality product definitely an upgrade from the oem and the fitment and build quality was great..
