A great voice, good songs
All the hits and more : that's exactly what you find on these CD's. A great voice, good songs : i like the 50's and 60's. For the crooners.

great sound
Great STEREO sound on three albums with tracks in original order. Contains earlier versions of It`s all in the game and others probably from vinyl.

a good value compilation
a disc very much of its time. Lots of well recorded pop and standards. Tommy Edwards deserved more than being one of the forgotten vocalists of his time.

Excellent music, but a real let down by Jasmine in sound quality!
Tommy Edwards is in my opinion one of the greatest balladeers of a generation. His music has been long overlooked on the CD format. It is great to see how at last some of his most memorable recordings are now being issued, and not before time. Not since the Eric lable released the fantastic greatest hits back in 1994 and Polygram in 1997 have we had a CD issue of Tommy Edwards music. That CD contained first generation master tape recordings and was amazing. What is presented here is a selection from his first 4 LP's for MGM from 1958 and 1959, plus some singles from the period and some of the pre-1958 MGM recordings, before he had his big number 1 with It's All In The Game. However Tommy deserves better than this CD, I disagree with the other reviewer on the sound quality. The first CD containing tracks from the LP "It's all in the game" and is incomplete as it misses many songs from the album, ok it does not confess to contain the whole LP but it would have been nice, plus the second "For Young Lover's" is clearly from a vinyl source in places and the sound fluctuates as a result. The 2nd CD containing largely the "Step Out Singing" and "You Started Me Dreaming" albums and again is a very uneven affair, not in terms of the music but again my issue is sound quality from JAsmine. "Step Out Singing" is clearly from Vinyl and I would say "You Started Me Dreaming" is also, however the biggest travesty is the early MGM recordings. I own all of Tommys original vinyl and those beautiful but delicate 78 shellacs and they sound lovely and warm and rich!. These offerings on CD2 sound like a pale MP3 download to me, tinny sound, faint vocal and just 'hard' and 'harsh' on the ears! Also both CD's contain an annoying whistle throughout, not sure if it is a mastering fault! As for the music, the combination of Tommy and Leroy Holmes Orchestration is beautiful throughout and there is not a bad selection on here!Thank you JAsmine for releasing a Tommy CD but my advice to you all is to go for the far far far superior "SHOUT" label CD of recordings, check it out on Amazon as it was released at the same time as this one, it may be a few pounds dearer but is worth every penny more, OK that issue is also sadly not perfect but it is much improved on this effort, I will be reviewing the new Shout CD soon. Thanks
