Lovely relaxing instrument
The media could not be loaded. This beautifully made instrument has a lovely sound after spending a bit of time to tune it better. Everything I've read online about tuning any lap harp is that it's a difficult process that takes time which could be up to a week. I also read that while in the process of tuning whether tightening the strings for a higher sound or loosening them for a lower sound it's important to make very slight twists each time so as not to break the strings. Though mine isn't perfectly tuned yet it sounds lovely just to strum and play random melodies which is the main reason I bought it as it's so relaxing. I play well known songs on my keyboard and flute so I'm satisfied using the lap harp for just enjoying the melodious sounds.

Didn't stay in tune for even 1 second.
I am fully aware that with cheaper instruments, there is a tendency for craftsmanship to suffer a little, but I wasn't expecting as many pegs to slip as there ended up being. Luckily I'm pretty handy around instruments, so my lyre experiment hasn't ended in failure after a little wood glue and some patience.Problems like slipping pegs are easy to fix... So if you're not afraid of a little tinkering, this is a cost-effective instrument to buy to trial whether you'll like playing the lyre. That's basically what I've done, and now I'm hooked enough to move on to an instrument with a little better craftsmanship, with this lyre relegated to a "travel" lyre for future use.

!! Do Not Buy !! Look for other lyres
When I got this in I was initially excited as I was wanting to learn the lyre and thought this was worth it. Within 5 minutes the highest string snapped while trying to tune. It was very difficult to change strings and you could not keep most of the notes in tune.As I was attempting to tune it, The pegs would instantly reset to their original position, and you could not tune it whatsoever. The heavy strings would end up becoming so loose that they almost fell out of the pegs! There are better ones, and I would recommend really researching before buying a lyre. This one is not it...

Lyre
The lyre will not hold a tuning long enough to play it. You can watch the pegs turn down. I have given it almost a month to acclimate. The instrument has a nice sound but out of tune. The booklet that came with it is of no help.

Made out of cheap material.
Made out of cheap material. String broke as soon as I started trying to tune it. Dented it too. Strings are brittle and so is the harp. Can’t recommend this product.

Not Solid Wood!
If you rap on the back of this lyre, it echoes like an acoustic guitar or uke. It is a hollow body model. It is also suspiciously lightweight. I had a similarly shaped 16 string that weighed much more than this. It had a much better tone. That was the first disappointment. I tried to tune it. As the photo shows, the brass grommets on the lowest strings could not take the stress and burrowed into the wood. The strings now rest on the wood and cannot be played. Back it went.I know the quality of these imports is hit or miss, but really! It could not be tuned. I took a chance on this lyre; however, I have free returns through Prime, so maybe I am unfairly peeved. Wait, the product description is false and misleading, so I am mega print peeved.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL
The media could not be loaded. VERY strong and beautiful sound! Easy to learn. If you can play a piano, you can play the harp! I love that the notes are engraved on the top! It was suggested that if you live in a dry climate, care for it as you would a violin with polish since it IS mohagany.

It's good
As I write this it's been only a few hours since I got the harp, and it's holding it first tuning and I have played a few songs. This is not my 1st lyre harp or folk harp I play other musical instruments like piano, violin, bowed psaltery and a few more and I read music let just get that out of the way. Like any string instrument it will take a few more tunings for it to start holding it's tune and any time you play a string instrument it will eventually need tuning again, weather, temperature, humidity, the amount of playing you do effect your instrument and how it stays in tune. This harp has a soft mellow sound not a bright sound like my other lyre harp which is only 16 strings and this one is the 24 string. I am in the process of transposing Christmas carols ,hymns and folk tunes to the key of C major and needed a harp that had more lower notes this fits the bill. With the strings labeled like middle C is C-4 ( and not the one that goes bang) if you read enough music to fellow the melody line you can pluck the song out as long as it doesn't have any sharps or flats. One of the reasons for my transposing music is so I have more times to play but if you dont want or can't do that there are music books in the key of C major out there and some of them are harp books. For playing you can pluck with one finger or more on one hand or use both hands , both hands on this type harp can be done but because you end up using one hand to hold the harp you end up playing with one hand. I play with my right hand and hold my harp with my left .As for the extras that came with this harp the extra set of strings is always nice to have the tuner was ok it works just go slow and gentle, easy a little turn is better then trying to get it all at one time, when you first time your harp do it in stages the strings need time to stretch.I don't use the picks but that's a personal choice some folks might like to use a pick, make sure to use soft picks it's best on the wear of the strings. When plucking your strings make sure your hands are clean , no lotion dirt and oils can damage the strings. The case is enough but would have liked to have a shoulder strap with it , because at times I need both hand free . I will add a strap later. Nice to have cleaning cloth to keep finger prints, dust and other marks off the harp. For harp care think of it as your child , don't leave it in a hot car, or in the rain, never leave it close to a heat source. Cases are nice but wood instrumens need to breath, many of mine either hang on the wall by my bed or on the shelf right next to said bed that also acts as a chair in my room. Have fun learning your harp it is worth it.Added note a day later on some harps that use nylon strings the c and f strings have color . So because I change from several different harps it was helpful to use a sharpie to color the C and F strings . It was very helpful to visually see where the strings are with the newer harp . It really helped . I used a dark pink for C and green for F . Nylon strings use red and blue to mark these strings.
