The ultimate Deepak book, written in fine style
Years ago I read Chopra's in-depth explanation of higher consciousness, "The Book of Secrets." His new book expands on the earlier one by explaining literally everything he has to say about consciousness. So on one level "Metahuman" is the goal his earlier books were aiming at. It is valuable just for that, if you happen to be a Deepak fan.But the book also has a new message, which is that only by going beyond everyday life (the Greek word "meta" means beyond) can we change what it means to be human. In a sense this is a futurist book like Yuval Harari's "Sapiens" and "Homo Deus." In lots of places, however, Chopra argues against Harari's view, and also Steven Pinker's, which sees a brighter future through rational solutions to our biggest problems. Chopra argues that consciousness is much more than pure abstract reason. If rationality ruled the human mind, we'd have no art, music, love, compassion, intuition, insight, and personal growth. We'd be brain robots ruled by our cerebral cortex.Chopra is out to recover "whole mind," as Aldous Huxley called higher consciousness. The thesis of "Metahuman" is that we live in a mind-made fiction, a virtual reality we believe in but which is much, much less than "real" reality. There are three parts to what the book sets out to achieve. First, the reader is led to understand that their personal reality is a kind of dream or illusion. Second, the process of waking up is outlined--waking up means getting unstuck from your fake virtual reality. Third is a set of 31 exercises, what the book calls "a month of waking up."These sections are all uniquely done in Chopra's excellent writing style, and unlike his previous books that I have read, he goes into a lot of the evolutionary history of Homo sapiens while giving it a very different interpretation than Harari or Pinker. Anyone who was intrigued by those authors will be just as intrigued by Chopra's new book. The concepts are big and sometimes challenging to grasp, but if you stick with it, "Metahuman" offers the most complete picture of higher consciousness that Chopra has ever presented.

Brilliant, Inspiring Reading
I just received and began reading this book by Deepak Chopra. He is brilliant and I wish there were literally millions of humans who thought just like him and acted upon everything he suggests. I can only hope that some of us will read this book and learn from it and put it into practice daily. Unfortunately, the average person is so far removed mentally from anything he suggests. Most humans are focused solely on themselves and the gratifications within easy reach or those they are currently pursuing to acquire a fleeting sense of happiness. Sadly, that's the reality of the majority across the globe.

Nothing really new. More self-help busywork
“Metahuman” is what Deepak Chopra calls us to evolve or develop to in his latest self-help book. Basically, he offers a strategy to break through a blinded and illusionary “virtual reality” and understand our non-physical experience that is beyond the physical and infinite. He points to a deafness in us, an unconscious avoidance of even thinking about our infinite nature. He dusts off an ancient philosophy called “The Direct Path”. For me it’s a rework of old ideas. Nothing really new here; no new insights which I found disappointing, and then when I was looking for some new reveal of something really helpful as a conclusion, he offers a month of daily lessons which I just could not bring myself to focus on – I did skim it. I’ve seen a million of these daily lesson things... have tried so many…I scanned a few here and just could not continue. Just more self-help book selling busy work.

Top 5 Deepak Books!
I'm a big Deepak fan and have read all of his books. This one has to be in the top five. It seems like all his books are building blocks to the next one taking you on a journey through this current Fairy Tale we call life and exposing us to all the freedoms that exist but maybe aren't aware of. Ultimately he is trying to show that we have to go beyond habits, thoughts, routines to another dimension in life that will set us free from this idea of who we think we are. The illusion of birth and death, being separate from everything else, the personality/ego, your name and history, etc. I think deep down we all want to transcend who and what we are and this book will help you do that.

Clear, direct and honest
This book is different. It's obvious that in "Metahuman", Dr. Chopra is not holding back anymore. He debunks the myth of the human as a machine , the illusion of an objective world and diverse futuristic predictions with a strong logic that can not be ignored. He doesn't strike me as overly optimistic about his message being heard by the masses, but on the other hand, he leaves no room for anyone to say that they continue to suffer because they didn't know of a way out. There is an eye-opening self assessment test and I'm glad to see that the second half of the book is a guide towards achieving the spiritual height and steadiness we are here for. What I find most amazing is that the book is as relevant to someone who has never heard of non-duality as it is for those who are far on the path.Even if Dr. Chopra has written many books about awakening, nowhere has he been so clear, direct and honest. This book is for the people of today and the challenges we all face, and needs to be read and applied by all who have a sense of urgency regarding the fate of humanity.

Easy concepts as explained, clear path to metaphysical existence anyone can grasp and implement.
Read on Kindle. How to book. Don’t get bogged down in redundancy. Love his books and the next steps in surrender to the universe.

Not his best work
I also want to just preface this by saying I am a huge Deepak Chopra fan, but just finishing chapter 5 I find this slightly incomprehensible and not because I don’t understand the concepts in science or the zen I hit 83 on the test at the beginning. Chopra seems to be rambling a bit and heading off on tangents. Even using the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy sperm whale as a point. It’s very hard to stay engaged compared to something similar like Gregg bradens Human by Design book. I’ll keep going but it’s pretty painful!

Us being more than just flesh and blood
Brilliant book could bring peace to the world if people took notice. Bought this book for two other people, both suffer anxiety and fear of the future for more than twenty. One has now read the book and removed all anxiety which no one else has achieved. Free yourself from anxiety by purchasing this book.

Irritating pseudo-science
To be fair, I haven't finished the book. Nor will I. The shaky concepts that Chopra has attempted to tenuously link together, using "witty" analogies, has completely put me off. Perhaps there is the odd gem, deeply hidden later in the book, as a reward for stoicly trudging through all of the repetitive "proven" theories. However, they will always remain hidden to me, as I have too many other books to read, and probably not enough time on this Earth to get through them.Buy this book if you are disenfranchised with life, have an active imagination, and no respect for actual science.

Deepak at his very best...a masterpiece, his ultimate work
I write review for very few books, though I read a lot. For this one I decided to write a review when I completed 10 percent of the Kindle book. After completing 65% I stopped reading to write the review. I have read almost all books by Deepak. I was his fan when I first read 7 spiritual laws of success. I got fascinated when I read the war of worldviews. However, so far I think his best was 'you are the universe'. Here Deepak not only dived deeper than that but kind of put together all his insights captured across more than 30 books. And by his own admission, in this book Deepak delved into the nature of reality without any inhibition in conveying his world view, centered around qualia revolution. Just like Mundukya Upanishad, this book offers a distilled insights in it's most direct approach.

The subject matter.
Typical Deepak Chopra book , repetitive , well written, confusing and repetitive (most American medicalise litreature is) I shall have to reread perhaps slower this time .
