I saw something like this a few month ago. We love raw Oysters. We went camping on the Eastern Shore and we always get crabs and oysters to eat at camp. I pulled this out and Bam it works amazing. Just make sure you have the point on a seam of oyster. My husband only had one he cracked wrong and had to readjust the oyster then it worked fine. We had a Peck of Oysters the thing opened them all. We had some HUGE oyster too.

if i rate this on build quality i would give it 4.5 stars. machining was good little bit better cleanup in the slot and i would have said great. but i had to remove some burrs to put it together. they were easy and it was not hard. overall i would say it was fantastic quality. however the design is a bit flawed. i am fairly good at opening oysters with a knife, but i bought this for my father, who usually has me open oysters for him when he gets them live, so he could open oysters without me stealing a couple from him ( it was a hard decision :) ) but for the life of me i could not get the thing to work easily. i was able to open 2 oysters with it in about 30 minutes. but did the rest of the 2 dozen with the knife in about 10 minutes. all in all it takes a LOT of force to use this. and when it did work it got a fair amount of shell in the oyster. if learning to use a knife is outside the question then this works. but it was not for me. enjoy your oysters!
