For compass use, which side of the module points forward? And what should be the compass orientation in the configurator?

Position with the ceramic GPS antenna (white square) up and the 6 pin connector coming out the right side of the vehicle. If you're holding the quadcopter nose up, the green writing on it should be right side up. Then set the BetaFlight compass orientation in the configurator to CW90 FLIP.

Does it have return to home feature

That is nothing to do with the GPS module. FC handles that.

is it compatible with f722 hd flight controller?

Yes.. Select protocol UBLOX. All in the manual..

Anyone used this product with an F405 flight controller?

The gps will work for sure just gets wired to a uart or soft serial. The compass needs i2c pads scl and sda. F405 probably has them. It will work without the compass wired
