I am 81 years young and I cannot remember all the birthdays in the family - so I got this and my friend and I put it together and I have it on my dining room lights so everyone can see it and especially me because I see it every day and know exactly when ALL the family birthdays and a few others too. I wouldn't want to miss my Great-granddaughters Sweeet 16 birthday this or any of our friends, neighbors and family. It is also a wonderful gift.

I recommend using a ball point or gel pin because the wood is porous and will bleed if you try to use a marker, even a fine-point.

You can use a ball point pen to write the names and dates down. The only complaint is you have to figure out how to attach the thin rope to the thin board. I had to get creative and super glue the rope on to a wooden bead so I can confidently know I can hang this up.

Very practical and loved by entire family. Problem with first one, but promptly sent second one and resolved.

I gave these as gifts they were so cute but if you don't have a soldering iron to burn into the wood it doesn't look too good using marker.... I used marker cause I wanted it to be a family project from the kids for mother's day but the marker bled down the grooves of the wood

I didn't like that so many pieces broke while trying to put links on. But it is really cute and good for the cost.
