Great unit, one year later with no issues
I've had this electric fence energized for nearly a year and it has work flawlessly the entire time. I am using this to protect a grove of fruit trees from my local neighborhood deer who will eat nearly every plant in my yard. This electric fence energizer has kept the deer out completely. I have 5 strands of wire, approximately 75' long each. The solar aspect is great and has kept me from having to run power out to the fence. Another great aspect is that the grounding rod acts as the support for the energizer and has an alligator clip from the positive and just clips on to the wire. I never have turned the unit off, just simply disconnect the alligator clip and address my trees. Highly recommended and will most likely buy another once I get another garden set up

Works great! Only needs one grounding rod!
Just an update that might help someone on this last one that I installed. I used the copper grounding rod, again only one Rod needed, versus the Galvanized steel rod that I used on my first fence. The copper gives a better energy to the fence, it gives a better shock. Obviously nothing that’s gonna hurt any of the animals. My horse is terrified of the fence even if there’s not an electric fence charger attached to it. But keeping out other animals, dear raccoons etc. I just feel that the copper rod performs much better.I’ve dabbled with electric fences, both solar and electric over the last few years never being actually very successful due to the multiple rods. I was a little skeptical when I read this one only needed the one grounding rod and that’s it. There’s a wire with a large alligator clip at the end that attaches to the box itself and then it clipped right into the fence. It is true, it does work exactly that way. You need get a grounding rod from Lowe’s or Home Depot pound it into the ground, I did mine with about 4 foot left above the ground, attached the electric fence box, tighten the end to the box onto the pole, screw the nut and wire onto the back of the box, then clip it onto the tape, cord or wire whichever you put up and you have a working electric fence. Quick and easy. I actually just bought a second one for another area on my property that’s very far away. Probably would work but I don’t want to run that much fencing or poles. You have to put it a sunny place just like any other solar items, even when we had about a week of cloudy rainy days it had no problem with holding a charge. It worked every day. I highly recommend this electric fence option

Great so far!!
So far, works perfect, day&night. Had some trouble in the setting, but was related to fence setup, not the Energizer. So far, works perfect!

Working well. Had it a year
We live in a deer super highway, a clearing in the woods between the forest and the river. The deer like to gather and sleep here. The yard is all torn up. Trees regularly get stripped of their bark. But, the gardens, including delicious spring tulips, hostas, lilies, roses, and other tasty treats have not been eaten at all since using this energizer.Used the energizer and 3+ foot some step in stakes to fence off my flower gardens. Goal was to prevent deer and rabbits from ruining the garden. The step in stakes have at least five places to attach wire. i started off with hot wires on the top (1) and bottom levels (5). The deer leaned over it and then left. Found the wire stretched and some footprints inside the garden but nothing eaten.I added two ground wires at the 2 and 4 positions on the stakes. The grounds go back to the grounding stake. When an animal touches the hot and ground, they complete the circuit and get zapped. Since making this improvement, we haven't had a deer get near our gardens.Rabbits are still able to jump between the hot and ground and get into the garden. I haven't seen any appear to get shocked. But, often they just run around the outside. So, i suspect the fence has had some effect on them. To improve my system, I should get a longer grounding rod. Current one is thin and only three feet. The natural soil here is mostly sand and gravel. Will buy another energizer today. Have a bunch of young trees to plant. Need to keep the deer off untl they mature a bit.Definitely recommend the product for deer. Gave it 4 stars because I'd like to see the rabbits once and a while.... But, my inadequate setup may be to blame.

This thing is amazing
I've always been skeptical about solar charges for fencing. This one is fairly inexpensive, but does what it's advertised to do.I bought this for paddock fencing inside my perimeter fence for my cattle. The cattle had never been exposed to electric fence before, but they sure respected the charge from this. Never had any problems. Easy to turn off and on, moves very easily. Has held up all spring and summer with no issues.
