Frigidaire 1/2 HP Direct Wire Garbage Disposal for Kitchen Sinks | FF05DISPD1, Gray

Our Insinkerator died at 10 years old. We replaced the 1/3hp with this 1.15hp monster. Its heavier and taller. Even though we were able to use the existing Insinkerator sink plate, I chose to remove all of that and replace with the new ones. Glad I did. The old one was getting pretty bad and the plumbers putty was done.Problem - So, I ordered a "used like new" at a substantial discount from Amazon warehouse. The first one came in a beat up box and was all scratched, dented, and the black drain hose was cracked. Ordered a replacement and it looks like it was new. Return of the broken up one was easy.Installation- Installation is standard except for the rubberized magnet wrap. That took a bit of doing to get it in there. It's in and the disposal works great. Use - It runs much quieter than the Insinkerator. As others have stated, it does drain slowly. This is due to the black rubber drain flap that prevents splash back when operating. (The Insinkerator flap had a large hole in the center) Like others did, I just simply cut back some of the center points of rubber for each section to make a slightly larger open hole. It drains faster now and I dont see any ill effects from doing so.

Purchased because of CR rating and has not disappointed yet. Installation instructions are good, but needs good basic skills. It can easily be direct wired by removing the plug. It's heavy duty, and runs smoothly and quietly.

The media could not be loaded. My InSinkErator badger 5 broke due to corrosion within 7 years. Was looking for a replacement that's a different brand.This one is great because it's compact, slimmer, and quieter. Also this snaps right into the previous garbage disposal sink mount. So I didn't need to get out the plumbers putty or anything. Great price on Amazon, comes with a 6 year warranty against malfunction and lifetime warranty on corrosion.Can't go wrong with this thing so far. The drain flange is fine. I read some reviews where they said it wasn't draining well but maybe this is a different model or an upgrade since those prior reviews.I have a video to show the sound and water drain. Unfortunately I don't have a before video of the badger to compare, but it's definitely noticeably quieter. I wouldn't say that it needs to be any quieter than it is. For under 100 bucks it's a great deal.The half horsepower is fine. I guess people aren't aware, you're supposed to put your food scraps in the trash or compost. The local water companies don't want anything going in the drain really except for water. FYIBut for when stuff does go in there, it's no problem.

Not too long ago I looked under the sink to discover water. Was there a pipe leak? Did a fitting get loose? Was there an issue with the supply line?No.I soon noticed water would drip from the bottom of my old garbage disposal when it would drain. After troubleshooting it was determined it was time to buy a new garbage disposal. After a quick search I stumbled across this disposal. It seemed comparable to the other brands of disposal and I was familiar with the name of this one so I decided to take the plunge.After this arrived and sat on my floor for a couple of weeks, I decided to finally swap them out. I read the directions and they seemed pretty straightforward. I would wire the garbage disposal directly instead of using a plug and outlet.After removing the old disposal I was able to get the new one in place rather quickly. My original concern was that I would need further electrical work, as the conduit under the sink had little slack. This was not an issue. The design of this disposal was so much smaller than my old one. I did not even realize until after I installed it that it seemed I had doubled my available space beneath my sink.When all was said and done the garbage disposal worked amazing. It was extremely quiet, even when I tested it before I put on the splash guard and noise dampening collar on the inside of the drain. This is the only reason why I gave this disposal four stars.When the splash guard is in place the sink drains extremely slow. With no stopper in place, if the sink is running it still fills up with water and takes a long time to drain. You better hope it is installed right and that plumbers putty keeps a good seal. Even when it is empty it is like the surface tension of the water keeps the drain closed. This is not a huge issue, but I imagine it could contribute to things like the accumulation of debris in the pipes because the slow drain doesn’t flush them down. It does keep large food pieces from going down and it definitely keeps things quiet so part of me prefers it, but I also hate doing dishes and have the sink fill up with greasy water. It does drain faster if you flip the switch. Replacements are rather cheap should you decide to swap.

Much quieter.Price as within $15 of the Badger 5. WowFits existing insinkerator mount. Did not need to remove/replace itHas a unique magnetic band which fits around the unit to help revent metal object from being chewed up or hurled back at you. Referred to as the Silver Band or similar....humorous in than silver is non magnetic.Took under 45 minutes to remove old and install new. Trimmed ABS as noted above. Plug is attached to unit. Plug and Play...or Plug and Grind!TEN YEAR WARRANTY! Very happy with it.CONS: (Very Minor, just to note)Due to sound enclosure, unit is wider. Required a 3/4" shortening of cross flow ABS pipe.Mounting plate to discharge pipe is metric. "old" unit bolts won't fit. Comes with all new hardware.Made in China.

Easy to install, cheaper than in store

Quizá el previo que estuvo en mi cocina era muy ruidoso, sin embargo este modelo es completamente silencioso, fuerte, con mucha capacidad y el extra de los imanes que se sitúan para que no se cuelen cucharas o metales que pudieran echar a perder las aspas, es increíble. La entrega fue en tiempo y forma, sin embargo la caja interna (productor) venia en mal estado (rasgada y deteriorada)

Great little unit - good value but noisy

It attached to the existing Insinkerstor hardware so easy to install. It’s a little deeper so we lost some storage space. You need to wire in an on/off switch if you don’t have it already.

The Frigidaire food disposal unit is probably a great unit except it's not compatible with the Australian 240volt power point outlets.Unfortunately I did not find this out until I received the item and saw 120volts printed on the box and power cord being completely different.This should have been made clear in the description but was not. It only stated as a corded food disposal unit.
