NapoleonTaylor 33" Electric Fireplace with Mantel - White, NEFP33-0214W

I was trying to decide between have a real fireplace installed and trying to make this one look legitimate. I decided to go the much cheaper route and this was the most elegant electric fireplace with mantel that I could find. I'm having a contractor do a two inch build out wall to put this up against and I am thrilled after assembly. Directions were good, but some of the pieces didn't line up perfectly. That's pretty standard with things like this, but with a little elbow grease we got it together. It's going to be gorgeous once I'm finished.

The fireplace itself is beautiful, just what I was looking for. I was disappointed only half of it was delivered so I had to call the company and then wait another 2 days for the rest of it. I am giving it a 1 star because there were little "nicks" all throughout the "slate". I thought it was going to be real slate, but clearly its not because the nicks are white, so it must be painted cardboard or something, it still looks nice, but I think the product description is misleading. I was also disappointed, after careful assembly by 2 people over a couple of hours we still could not get the large pieces perfectly flush, which I think when paying thousands of dollars for a fireplace it should be. I asked for a refund but they only offered my a $200 credit which makes me not want to support this company again.

Love. Great addition to bedroom. We added small trim work to upper back so it was flush with wall instead of cutting our tall baseboard. Obviously electric but an excellent choice for convenient plug and play option

This is a pretty decent fireplace, but it is not worth anywhere near $1350. A couple of misconceptions that I had about this item:1. It is *not* made of real wood, but rather the same junky MDF that you get in the $600-$800 price range. It looks like there is a lot of misinformation floating around on this item in particular. Again, this fireplace is *not* real wood, but rather an engineered wood/fiberboard product.2. Despite the description, there is no "crackling" fire. It is completely silent, and I still have to pay for a separate audio unit3. Similarly, the fire is pretty realistic, but no more so than some of the much cheaper units I've seen. Besides the crackle, I think the other glaring issue is the lighting of the logs. There is a bulb fit inside the bottom of the fake logs that pulses on and off, that is supposed to simulate the rolling glow of real embers. However, it cycles way too frequently (from full bright to dark and back to full bright in about 5 seconds), making it obvious that you're looking at a fake.4. For the price I paid, I expected *perfect* fit and finish of the pieces. This was not the case. Not only did I have to take the thing apart multiple times to make adjustments because of poor alignment of the pieces, I ended up having to pay a carpenter to level out certain edges due to inconsistent measurements.5. The fastening hardware for this unit is total junk. Included are butterfly screws - perhaps the most useless of fasterners for tight spaces, since you can't get a grip on them past finger tight. Moreover, several of the heads broke off on these screws after I installed them, because of bad spot welding to the bolt shank.With that said, once I dealt with all of these deficiencies and got it set up, it does look good. I'd give it two stars on setup and 4 stars on looks, averaging out to three stars. However, I am in the process of requesting a partial refund for all of the hassle I've had to put into this unit. It may be that my expectations for this product were simply too high. But I thought by purchasing a unit that was several hundred dollars more expensive than anything else listed on Amazon, it should be without the major flaws that I see many reviewers complaining about who "went cheap". At the end of the day, this line of logic just didn't hold.

I bought this fireplace a few years ago and still love it as much today as when it arrived! The heater works well, and has a handy timer to shut off once the room has warmed. The blue flame option has been a favorite of our family! Was surprised to see so few stars. I only came across this because I am in the market for another Napolean electric fireplace due to the excellent quality, performance, and beauty of the one I have now.
