Great to cook with
I bought it for the Prosciutto, but fat is great for cooking, adding a unique flavor for soups and bases.

half of it was just fat; the other half was tasteless meat. Bottom line: not worth buying this.
I purchased this because the ratio weight/money was possibly ok, for an italian prosciutto. For the investment (~70 bucks) you get ~4 pounds. Not bad, no? well, the problems are two fold. First is the amount of fat. I lived in Italy for many years and I think I know how real italian prosciutto looks and tastes. While a certain amount of fat is certainly acceptable and desirable, 2 pounds (I weighted it) out of the 4 pounds received in the package being just plain fat is definitely not acceptable. But, well, if the other two pounds of meat at least taste like italian prosciutto, I could possibly live with it. The problem was this is not likely real italian prosciutto (or if it is, this is the worst and most tasteless italian prosciutto you can get for the dollar). Bottom line: I felt really scammed by this very pricey misleading fatty tasteless pseudo-italian pseudo-prosciutto. If you ever had tasted real prosciutto di Parma (or even an average meat you can get in any salumeria in Italy), you will know the difference. Unfortunately, I will never recommend this brand to anyone (pity that Amazon cannot give clients the option to have negative stars or zero stars) and certainly, will never buy it again. I'll stick with speck from Alto Adige, which is worth the value for money and it tastes at least closer to the one you get in Italy.

Had a lot of fat.
I was not happy with the amount of fat on the ham. I cut off almost a pound before I could slice it. The flavor is good but does not seem like 16 months aged, more like 12. It was mailed quickly but there were no ice bags in the box to keep it cold. There were bags but they were empty. I am thinking it was dry ice that evaporated by the time the box got to me.

This is "good stuff!"
I liked everything about it! The look, taste, smell, texture, moisture, color and reasonable price. Just the right fat content. Always had the domestic boars head brand. This imported d.o.p. San Daniele prosciutto is superior! Ordered Wednesday, got it that Friday. Having a good slicer helps too. Thinner than paper slices makes it go a long way. *UPDATE* It's a year later... all out of prosciutto... we got covid-19, election year, bad weather, violence, etc. Needed a pickup. Received another 4lb hunk........ Absolutely delicious! Same as before best in review. Glad this didn't change. Worth every penny. P.S. ... For you Peasants out there..By the pre-package stuff. it will have all the printing you want. I,m well in my senior years, and have eaten all kinds of prosciutto domestic and imported. This is the real thing! Thanks Frank and Sal!*UPDATE* 3rd 4lb received October 24th 2022... Just as good!!!!...

So glad to get a smaller cut of Prosciutto!
I eat a salad everyday for lunch. It's helped me keep 50 pounds off for the last 10 or so years. We lived in Italy for a year or so and I got an affinity for speck and prosciutto. This is a good product, a little too salty for me, and you need to use your electric slicer to get it thin or it is a little tough. the flavor is great.

Awesome Prosciutto, Better than expected!
First, let me start of by stating that I am somewhat of a prosciutto snob, and go back and forth between prosciutto and jamon serrano. I have also bought many domestic prosciutto's, including Volpi. This prosciutto was a big surprise. Although it costs nearly as much as Parma per pound, it was worth the price, as the flavor and texture were excellent. I am glad I purchased this item, and will buy it again. If your purchase it, do yourself a favor and purchase a prosciutto knife to cut it.

San Daniele prosciutto - imported from Italy .
This San Daniele prosciutto is mild in flavor and delicious. Unless you have very good knife skills, an electric slicer is necessary to slice it properly, meaning very thin. By slicing it thin, its flavor enhances. Some of it goes from the slicer direct into my mouth - yummy!

Fantastic prosciutto!
Excellent flavor! Mild and soft prosciutto, perfect for the Chardonnay wines I like.I'll buy it again without thinking. It was an excellent meat to combine with other dishes and make other dishes different and more interesting.Thank you,RD
