Last Night at Chateau Marmont

This review is more for the seller I purchased from, Ameen books and Amazon delivery. I am very pleased with the condition of the book even though it's a used one. And Amazon delivery was prompt and hassle free. Now about the content of the book - it's an ok read from Lauren Weisberger. Do not expect anything on the level of devil wears Prada and you won't be disappointed.

C'est mon préféré après le diable s'habille en Prada de cette auteur. Une histoire très touchante, on ressent la souffrance que l'héroïne est obligée de cacher. On a envie de hurler à sa place. C'est en même temps très drôle, grâce à des personnages secondaires comme Nola, la meilleure amie de Brooke. On a l'impression de se trouver dans un épisode de Sex and the city, avec des personnages plus jeunes et des histoires qui nous touchent plus. Mais l'ambiance paillettes et cocktail est bien là ! Un roman qui se dévore, glamour et simple à la fois. J'adore !

Wonderful dialog and nicely developed characters pull you into this light fun read and create subtle suspense to keep you turning the pages. Lauren Weisberger does an excellent job of showing the ups and downs that play out in a marriage when one partners catapults to stardom. She breathes life into her characters first by revealing their feelings and letting readers into their thoughts, then by creating realistic circumstances and surrounding her protagonist with quirky, but believable friends and family to interact with. Although the book is about a couple, the center of it all is Brooke and how she comes to terms with the new dynamics of her life and marriage after her husband becomes a rock star. Initially she clings to old and comfortable and lives somewhat in denial. But not for long. As the momentum builds her life in the fast lane starts feeling authentic, complete with paparazzi, jet set parties, outrageous designer clothes, uncompromising pictures appearing in tabloids and of course temptation at every turn. If you like reading gossip magazines and always wanted the inside take on the celebrity life, you'll love this book. It's also a good read for those that enjoy a light emotionally engaging read.

Brooke is a graduate nutritionist, working long hours in two jobs to support her struggling musician husband to achieve his dream of hitting the big time. When their dream comes true, it turns out to be Brooke's nightmare, with Julian away from home all the time and the fame going to his head. Brooke's life is changed overnight, being papped when she least expects it and struggling to maintain her normal life as well as being part of Julian's new one.Last Night at Chateau Marmont is different to Weisberger's other novels, but is in essence very similar. Here, we see the male lead having the amazing career and doing what is necessary to keep it but Brooke by no means is a sappy female character who just sits home with the dog. Weisberger gives Brooke the determination to make her marriage work that her previous characters have had in making their jobs succeed. Brooke has her own ambitions and it is a change for all Weisberger fans to see her heroine's home life concentrated on.I read this in a day and recommend it to anyone in need of a bit of escapism!
