Exactly like Brazilian Heart of Palms
Have you been looking for those heart of palms that you ate at a Brazilian restaurant, or even in your last trip to Brazil?Your search is over!Even though these come from Peru, they are from the exact same palm tree of Brazilian heart of palms. This product is not mushy, tasteless, yellowish, and of a conical shape like those from Ecuador, Costa Rica, etc... that you find at grocery stores and discount clubs.Brazilian heart of palms have strong smell and taste and are acidic. Finding woody hearts is usual and this is done by Nature. But, these woody chunks can be sauteed, used in soups (check Emeril Lagasse's recipes), and in pies (add them to chicken pot pie). A little bit of cooking makes them very soft. Finally, Brazilian type heart of palms start changing colors as soon as the palm tree is cut. From white towards grayish/pinkish tones, which is accelerated in contact with air and aluminum cooking utensils. But the taste doesn't change at all.

Lot of variability
UPDATEhad one can which was fine but the next was dented. I called amazon customer service and was told that it's not eligible for a return or refund.I’ve had about 70 cans of this brand of hearts of palm over the last two years and I’ve noticed a lot of variability not only with the size but also the tenderness of the stocks. This last shipment in January 2025 had a sticker on the outside of the box saying it was a product of Columbia, but the individual can said Ecuador. The stocks were larger than usual only fitting four to a can, but the salinity was way less than I’m used to. It seems like they are missing some salt which since I’m a person who cans my own vegetables makes me wonder if it’s safe to eat. However, I said Yolo and ate it anyway because the stocks were tender, and I was hungry for those who don’t know the larger stocks are very soft and mushy, and the smaller stocks can have a nice bite or crunch or if you’re unlucky might be unpleasantly fibrous. The occasional stock that is fibrous and wood- like in texture is nearly inedible. I never ate hearts of palm before buying this brand because conventional hearts of palm are extremely bad for the environment and cause deforestation in impoverished tropical countries. I pay extra for this brand for this reason that it is hopefully true to this word with sustainability and fair wages. This is also the reason why I put up with the inconsistent quality.

Great and also thru subscribe-n-save!
Living here in central Iowa, we don't have a lot of selection on hearts of palm - yea go figure huh? Lol. So we were so glad to find these available through subscribe-n-save at a significant savings over what we would spend buying a $5 can from the store. And they are great quality - that had certainly been my concern seeing the price, but these are just as good as any canned hearts of palm we've bought anywhere. We get a kick out of them being organic - we appreciate that, tho we'd probably buy them anyway. We have them pretty much nightly in our salads, and our 7-yr old loves having one as a treat - we've had him hooked since he was 3. :) We've been buying this brand thru Amazon for a couple years now, I can recommend it!

NOT ANYTHING close to the ones discontinued @Costco
Contrary to other reviews (which sold me) I did not find these anywhere near the quality of the ones I miss so much at Costco. They have a grey-ish tint to them which is unappealing. They were tolerable the first day out of the can but the texture degrades immediately thereafter (hence the organic?). If they are not used before the third day I think that you will be completely disappointed. I found that they turned to mush and turned an even darker shade of gray. I made sure that I had them in an airtight storage container, in the frig, in all of the liquid that was contained in the can. The color you see on their label is most assuredly not what you will find inside. If I could return the more than 1/2 case I have left, I would. And I made sure to cancel the auto ship.P.S. This is only the second review I have ever taken the time to write on this site in the entire 10+ years I have been shopping on Amazon. (The other was a 4-star positive) I was utterly dissatisfied with these hearts of palm and have no idea what I'll do with the balance.

Half of the cans came dented
I’ve heard of perfectly healthy people die because they got botulism from consuming food that came from dented cans.Great deal, but I have to throw half of the cans away, and not to mention eating canned food is not the healthiest option but there’s no other alternative to organic palms of heart.I really wish one company would sell organic palms of hearts in a glass jar and in bulk.I eat palms of heart every day.

Hearts of Palm
I have ordered this brand lots of times before. My 5 year old grand daughter loves, loves, loves hearts of palm. In the past, each can contained 4 or 5 huge palms. None were ever hard. This last batch is different. Each can containes 9 or 10 smaller hearts, and several times she has come across palms that are extremely hard and impossible to eat. I checked them out myself, so I know it's true. Overall, their product is good, and reasonably priced in comparision to other brands of palms, this shipment was somewhat a disappointment.

Delicious!
My whole family is hooked on palm hearts whether plain or in a variety different types of salads. We always liked the Reese brand although they were not the same as we were able to get overseas they were good until a few years ago. Now I find them all to be mushy and tasteless I have no idea what the change was, they aren't white, firm stalks any more they have a yellowish tinge and a weird texture. These are good not perfect but really good. I rarely get woody stalks and they are firm enough to slice, they don't just fall apart when you cut them. I have them set up for auto-delivery and split them with family members. The price is good compared to the grocery store although they have creeped up a little to over $4.00 a can and honestly even if they increase to over the grocery store prices I would still order these they are just better quality than I have been able to find in the stores.
