Totally insane
A mad romp through a deranged mind that is strangely compelling. Get lost in a universe of diverse characters, unknown, and yet all too real and believable. I enjoyed every confusing minute.

A different read
What I like about this book is how it is written from the view point of an investigative reporter, who is telling the story of how he put his report together. What I don't like about it is just how slow this makes the development of the plot. I got very near giving up on this book. Overall I did not find it all that funny and when considering this review I came very close to giving it just three stars. I eventually settled on four stars simply because the core story is very good. But it is so slow! The reader has to plough through around 90% of the book before you discover what 'The Incident', which is the main event in the plot line, actually is.This is clever writing. It is also very literate. The author takes full advantage of his assumed role of translator to get around what could have been difficult issues. But I still found most of it a tedious read. Do I recommend it? Well I suppose that I must as I am giving the book a four star rating. The pub called 'The Pipes' is a very clever invention, as is the unstated role of the big red button at the door that beings cannot resist slapping as they come and go. Will I try the next book in the series? Probably not, but there is the chance that I might change my mind.

Different
I like SF stories but not the ones that depict wars. This book was indeed very different. Once I got used to the very strange language I quite enjoyed it. The author has a very vivid imagination.

Science fiction ?
Entertaining read, not sure how to classify it though. Is it a mystery or a space opera ? Roy turns out to be a "man" of principle who is cleverer than his fellow inhabitants give him credit for. It would be nice to know what happened to him for definite but it's also good that his money is going to help the lower orders on the space station for a long time to come.

Too "humorous" and too long winded
Humorous perhaps, but not funny. The story is dragged out far too long and the ending, which is the main theme throughout the book, is more of a damp squib than anything. I can't really put my finger on the why of this, but I found the writing style to be annoying, and the characters not involving enough. I won't ne reading any more by this author.

Amusing. But...
It's so poorly written. There are errors from start to finish. Well done writing and publishing a story. It was worth the dollar. I won't be reading any more of them.

Funny sci fi adventure
This book is similar to the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It takes place on a giant multi ringed space station. It is populated by an assortment of funny aliens who look truly alien. The descriptions of them are imaginative. The hierarchy is rigid.Roy is a disgruntled middle aged, divorced plumber. He gets recruited by the underworld to do plumbing jobs. He does well and saves the day. He gets recruited by the organanized crime boss to carry drugs. So even though he has money he is still disgruntled, and leads to The Incident. The book read like a collection of interviews. Puki Horpocket, a journalist is interviewing everyone who knows Roy to try to find out how The Incident happened. It's a marveous story with an excellent ending.

I enjoyed this
I glad I bought the series. Very different type of story. Nine more words, six more words, three more words.

Funny in that…
…what if / have I / should I… section of reflecting on my life.I really enjoy reading Zachry Wheeler, his style is open to personal interpretation with making it a cohesivepart of the story - like the people in the photograph each have different reasons personally rather than the public version for being there.Thank you Zachry Wheeler, you make reading fun. :-)

I could not put it down. read it in one sitting.
It’s irreverent, yet thought provoking. Enjoyable from beginning to end. Reminded me of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Definitely recommend.

midlife crisis
Ever wake up one day and say, z@ How did I get here? And is this all there is?” Thats our boy Roy and maybe he was just the man for this adventure. It’s a great read with a high ending.
