The Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II (DVD)

My Grandmother was 53 at the time of this wedding. My mother,13, recalled that her mother couldn't get enough of it. I love being able to now see snippets of what my Grandmother, a farm wife, so enjoyed. Beautiful coverage, good interviews. Get it, you won't be sorry.

This documentary is more about what went on behind the scenes than the wedding itself. The old guard wanted to maintain tradition, Prince Philip wanted to modernize and move forward. Elizabeth II, future queen, was caught in the middle. She handled the situation with aplomb and grace, not offending the old traditionalists while managing to support her husband-to-be. It was an incredible balancing act and she pulled it off. I bow to her calm and wisdom. What gets me most is that she married her cousin. Talk about keeping the bloodlines in the family! That's so weird.

Brought back so many memories watching video. I was only 10 and watched with my Grandmother Rideout who was very into all things English royalty which started my interest which continues to this day. My heritage is English on both sides in fact have a verified ancestor that came over on the Mayflower. This same Grandmother was the relative thus the added interest in all things English.

DVD arrived yesterday (September 2, 2016) safe, sound, and well packaged. The packaging was easy to open which is always a plus. Since I am a big fan of the British monarchy I am pleased as anything to have this DVD in my collection. The quality of the recording is all that I could ask to have.

Bought this and others for my wife who loves the Queen. She was ecstatic!

A fascinating review of the history of the time as well as the history of the pomp and circumstance of the coronation.
