Cal Pump PW2500 Direct Drive 2500 GPH Waterfall Pump

This is the 3rd cal2500 we have purchased over the last 10 years.The price is right and it is so quiet you would never know it was there.It works great for our pond and waterfall. Our pond is 3ft deep, 12ft across the diameter. We keep the pump on all year except for cleaning so I would expect to replace it in approximately 2 years.This model did not have the cage around the bottom, but that didn't make a difference to me.Hope this helps.

I've been using this Cal Pump or similar for 10 years for my backyard waterfall. Past models have lasted at least a year, if not 3. The last three pumps I've purchased have all died just outside of the warranty period (about 6-8 months). All three, failed in the same way: water leakage past seals, getting into bearings, and pump starts to make horrible noise. Electric motor was working fine. Disassembled last pump and tried to clean bearings and grease seal so it wouldn't leak. No luck -- couldn't make it silent again. This pump, said to myself "after 6 mo warranty is up, I'll disassemble and grease bearing seals early to prevent leakage. No luck -- had already leaked before I got around to it. After 3 similar failures, I'm done with this product. I think manufacturing quality has declined over the years, and this is born out by other reviewers as well. So Sad. Was otherwise a good workhorse.

Exact replacement for my original pump that lasted 7 years. I was so happy to get everything back up and running without replumbing anything. Its a shame it only lasted two months. Sold by Amazon so I have to take it up with manufacturer. I won't buy this one again. I'm looking for something else.

the pump I received does not look anything like the one pictured. I purposely spent more to have this pump because of the cage underneath it, instead I just spent 3 hours building one onto the pump I received! Not to happy with the misrepresentation.

Pump is doing a good job at this point. Keeping my 1000 gallons of water clear and waterfall working well.

Shipping was very quick. I have used this pump in the past works well. I generally get about 3 to 4 years out of it and I have to get a new one. How ever I use it year round in my outside pond about 1500 gals. And we go down to zero degrees sometimes in the winter. It has a good price for what you get.

This pump stopped working after 3 weeks. Save your money and buy a different pump. This one is not worth it.
