Has anybody tried to remove the Velcro from the door? Does it remove the paint of the door?

I have not tried to remove it. Mine is on an aluminum door on a screened porch so am very curious to see how it does over the winter.

Pictures show one side/end looks " finished . Is one end finished ( looks smooth & foam isn't showing ) ?

After the measurement is completed, you can cut off the excess foam and put it in a canvas bag, and cut off the extra canvas bag. Finally, just glue the cut sealing strip to the door. A simple installation can be completed!

Can I apply this to the outside of a door to keep my cats from smacking their toys under the bathroom door?

Yes, its hard to move around ounce attached and can defiantly block the cat toys
