Terrible design
I needed a gas can quickly and for some reason the one I wanted was illegal to ship to California. Anyway - I ended up with this one which came with no instructions regarding the safety spout. You need to push in the red lever and then push down the top of the spout to open the flow. And HOLD it down! It doesn’t not click into place. The nozzle is rigid and not flexible. I would definitely use a funnel when using this gas can. The manufacturer went completely overboard with this safety feature. You will not be able to pour gas without using both hands. Also - you cannot fit 2 gallons of gas in this can. Any gas station pump will shut off after 1.5 gallons.

Would not recommend
My old gas can developed a leak as the gasket on the cap wore out. I needed a new one since mowing season is here. I went to trusty Amazon, and went with this one, it was inexpensive and had decent reviews. Poor choice. The instructions aren't clear, and the thing is damn near impossible to operate. My old can had a clicker you had to activate to pour, but was incredibly simple to use. This one, not so much. After struggling with it for a while, I just unscrewed the damn thing and poured the gas from the jug (with cap off) into my mower tank. No spill. I don't understand why on earth someone thought this ridiculous design was a good idea. I thought I was a smart guy, I'm a college graduate, I've scored relatively high on IQ tests, I do well at bar trivia, I can hold my own in most debates, but I can't operate this damn thing as intended.

Wow, just wow.
What in the heck? Why take something simple and make it ridiculously worse? The stupid plastic “safety” insert makes it almost impossible to fill at a gas station and I guarantee you will have overflowing gas gurgling out repeatedly as you try to get a gallon to go in. Forget about about more than that. Won’t happen. And then when you actually try to fill something with it that too is made painfully hard. I’ve never seen a gas can so perfectly constructed to spill gas everywhere. I’m losing hope in humanity as I contemplate how such an inept and down right dangerous contraption made it all the way to mass production in the year 2020.
