Spraying curtains for AL
I purchased the No-Burn Fabric Fire Gard Spray to treat my Mother's white sheer curtains and drapes when she moved to Assisted Living. All curtains must be fire-retardant in Assisted-Living Facilities. After inquiring all around town (a major city) I could find no dealer or supplier in the area. In fact, one business told me, she had another caller looking for a fire-retardant spray for a Nursing Home. I researched on the web and found the product on Amazon. Ordering was quick and easy, the spray arrived in days. I'll admit it didn't arrive totally clear, but the results were great. My husband strung lines in the garage for me to hang these curtains up to spray. I wore a mask, goggles, and heavy duty rubber gloves while I sprayed the curtains. I left them to dry for 24 hours, no spots or streaks on these white curtains! The curtains do feel starchier, as if they have more body. One and half bottles did 4 short panels and 4 long panels of drapes (front and back). Mom is happy, she has her curtains hanging up in her apartment, and the facility is happy that they are fire-retardant.

Works
This was actually purchased for a science fair project for my son. The project I wanted him to do would have been almost free, so he went with the one that cost me $100 all-in. But I digress. We sprayed this product, and another called Firetect, onto cotton and polyester. Even without the products the polyester never burned - it just melted. Who knew? With the products it wouldn't even do that, and we tried.Without the fire retardants the cotton burned quite a bit, actually had flames. Both products we sprayed worked well; they both stopped the flames. The No-Burn allowed a small hole, while the Firetect barely allowed a scorch on the fabric. The Firetect was better, but No-Burn is a good product.

Used this to add fire proof resistance for classroom fabrics
I read this has one of the highest ratings for use in California schools. So sprayed all of my classroom fabrics with it. Even my custodian considered it as acceptable. A bit expensive but was worth it. I sprayed the fabrics outside as it had a smell when first applied.

Used on curtains
I was required to fire treat the curtains in my classroom, so I bought this. Although I never actually tried to test and see if they were fire-resistant after treatment, my curtains did pass inspection by the fire marshal.

I am a teacher and my classroom has a large window. We have certain requirements and procedures for "lockdown" drills in our school. We have to cover the window during the drill to prevent anyone from seeing inside the classroom in the event that a person/persons meaning harm is looking for a full classroom. I made some curtains for the window and due to fire prevention regulations, the fabric must be fire retardant. I looked for fabric that was already fire retardant but, all I could find in my local store was very juvenile. I teach at a middle school. The fire marshall said a fire retardant can be applied to the curtains and that would be in compliance to policies. I looked at my local home centers and discount stores and found no product available. I looked on amazon and found this product. It was easy to apply to my curtains. Did not change the appearance of them in any way. However, when you apply the spray, do it where the spray will not get on anything you do not want the spray on. I laid my curtains across a couple of classroom desks and the spray got on the desks and left a white residue. It was easy to get off with a regular household cleaner. Good product that fulfilled my needs.
