Super strong magnet
Perfect setup. This worked great on my fly vest holding my landing net. I clipped it on my d-ring on the back of my vest and it held my net out of my way. The best way to detach the net is to just grab it and yank. To put the net back, grab the hoop and just get the magnet close to the d-ring and it will automatically re-engage. Couldn't be simpler.Magnet is good and strong and haven't had it disengage accidentally even once.I hope you found this review to be helpful, please click below to indicate that you did. Thanks

Great - simply great, fast connect and holds the net solid.
Every so often, a product comes along that works perfect, does just what you want, and is a great price -- this is that product.I love the outdoors, and I love fly fishing. My biggest problems are that I don't go enough, and my hobbies are collectively too expensive, so I often don't get the gear that I want. For years, I have wanted a magnetic release for my net, but have never purchased one since every store I see them in always has them way to expensive. I have never been able to figure out why a couple magnets and cord can cost $20.This item resolved the price issue, and performance was great. It clips easy to the back of my vest, and was super easy to retrieve my net, and then to reconnect after landing. These magnets are super strong, and the cord was more than long enough for my needs and seemed to snap back decently after using it many dozen times. It made landing my trout while holding my fly rod infinitely easier, and I didn't have my net sticking out (and falling out) of my back pocket, or laying 10 yards down the river bank, which is what used to happen. My only regret is that I did not purchase this a long time ago. Outstanding item in all respects.

In reviews we trust
Here’s the truth and nothing but the truth...Pros 1) The magnet is strong. This is what you are paying for.2) the cable is of good quality plastic with metal cable inside so it is durable.Cons1) carabiner is poor quality it is made of plastic not metal. I would advise switching this out.TipsOne magnet should be attached to a carabiner that is attached to your vest, backpack, or wading jacket. That same carabiner should also have the one end of the cable. (This is your safety if the magnet were to fail)The other magnet should be fastened to the top of the hoop of your landing net. You can use a zip tie for this. I would recommend placing a wide enough rubber band between the zip tie and the landing net to prevent damage. At the handle base of your landing net attach the other end of the cable. Why set it up this way? This keeps the hoop facing up. It will decrease the snags and prevent it from creating drag in the water. Enjoy! Please like the comment so other customers can see this to make better decisions.

Very strong and dependable
Best magnetic release I've ever used.I've been fly fishing for 30 years now.Hiked into many places where tree branches are plentifuland where weak magnets gets pulled apart and "bam"you now have to retrack back and retrieve that net behind you, sometime with your rods in your had! that is not fun to do.These strong magnets stay in position very well.Just fished Merced river during beautiful snow storm andworked brilliantly. I was teaching my nephew how to fly fish forthe first time in his life. Brought two beautiful wild rainbow into thenet, using this net holder.

Got one for myself and another for a buddy.
It a little tricky to find 'cause it's called a "SF Fly Fishing Pliers Landing Trout Net Magnetic Release Holder with Cord 12 LB".So, it's not Fly Fishing Pliers and I'm sure it doesn't weigh 12 pounds. What it is is a magnetic holder for your landing net. You clip one magnet on the loop on the back of your vest or coat, or wherever else you might want it; the other magnet goes on the handle of your net. When you bring them close together—SNAP—they grab each other and you let go of your net and it's now hanging on your back out of the way. To use your net you just reach around and tug it loose.I have been told to be careful when walking through brush. The net can get hung on a branch, after you walk away and the coiled return cord get pulled tight, it can release and the net smacks you in the back or in the head. OUCH. I'd rather see it happen than have it happen. But so far neither has happened.

It Works! when I can find it!
OK, this thing really does work. The magnet is strong and really holds nicely. The only problem I have had is my own, not the fault of the magnet. I installed the magnet on the back of my shoulder strap to hold my fishing net on my back (rather than sticking the net handle in the back of my belt). I must confess it is a little hard to find. Maybe because I'm not use to it, but it is hard to find. One time I got a frustrated trying to find the magnet & so I just went ahead and stuck the net handle in my belt. When I caught my next fish I was surprised to find that the two magnets had magically found each other and they were connected. It's really a dandy product!

Can't complain for the price. Absolutely love it
I've always been very skeptical about using these type of fishing net magnets because I've seen and found fishing nets floating along the rivers and managed to grab one passing by me. When I opened the package and experimented the item. The only thing that I didn't like is the plastic clip that connects to both the magnet and vest but you can find metal one just about anywhere. Aside from that I can say that this magnet is incredibly strong and what I love is the cord to ensure that you will not loose your net. After placing both magnets within 2" apart from each other you can see them pulling each other. I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone.

Holds tight; looks nice!
Got this to replace my older magnetic net clasp which had grown rusty after nearly a decade of use. This was a rather affordable option and looked pretty nice, as well, so I figured I'd give it a shot. My concern was that, in spite of the sleek looks, it would have shoddy magnets and the net would be popping off the clasp too easily while I was walking. I'm happy to say it holds nice and firm, only being pulled off my back occasionally if I'm bushwhacking. Holds tighter than my older, more expensive net magnet.

Strong and good value
One of the strongest magnets I have used so far, for carrying a fishing net. I have used a C&F magnet for several years and if you know their equipment you will know it isn't cheap. This magnet exceeds the force of the C&F by about 2lbs (tested using a spring balance in a pull off test). I am much happier using this one for heavier nets like folding head extendable nets which being long and heavier than short pan nets, can also exert some leverage on the magnet due to their length and the force of their mass when swinging around on your back when stowed. Highly recommended, I will buy more of these.

Great product
I’ve not used the bungee, but the magnet is great, hold a very large net to the side of my fishing backpack with no issues, easy to grab and reattach, very pleased.

Such a pity
This product is a great concept. I bought it to attach my Garmin to my rucksack, which would have worked a treat, but unfortunately on the first attempt the clip on the carabina broke. I’m puzzled as to why they would use such a flimsy clasp on what is supposed to be a tough resilient item? Anyway, I’ve replaced the carabina with one of my own which has done the trick.

So many uses.
I use this for metal detecting, I attached one end to my vest and the other to my probe. Fantastic bit of kit with a very strong magnet.

Nice idea but does not work.
Magnets strong so they cling to every steel item in your pockets or gates and wire fences. The plastic “karabiner “ is poor. With one magnet on your back and the other on your landing net it’s difficult to engage the pair together.
