Buy Orvis Fly-Tying Guide by Rosenbauer, Tom online on desertcart.ae at best prices. ✓ Fast and free shipping ✓ free returns ✓ cash on delivery available on eligible purchase. Review: Bought this for husband who is just getting into fly tying. He likes the step by step instructions and photos. Review: There are two reasons to buy and use this book. The first is the fly tying directions. These cover enough sample types of flies that you learn enough to tie the vast percentage of flies used in the sport. The instruction is clearly written and the color photography shows the step by step procedures. The second reason is that it provides patterns for all of the flies in the Orvis catalog at the date of publication. I do enjoy reading Tom Rosenbauer. He writes clearly and in a conversational manner. Make no mistake, fly tying requires fine motor skills and there are tons of twists to technique you will only master with practice. This book helps the learning process to take place.

I have several fly tying guides but this is the best so far, with easy to follow text and excellent photographs that go hand in hand, enabling any one to follow the very clear instructions from basic steps to the most advanced techniques of fly-tying. I would say it is the utimate Christmas, Birthday, give it yourself present.

Many years ago I had this book in a different edition. It was a loose-leaf binder that could be updated with supplements. Alas, I loaned it to someone and lost it. I have been looking for a replacement for it for a very long time. At long last, I found this book and am very happy with it. It is a bigger format which is nice, but I wish it had a lay-flat binder like the original. It has all the information that the original did - just about any fly anyone is considering tying. There is a pic of every fly, a list of material and any special directions required for tying that fly. There is a section in the front with fly tying instructions for beginners. The amount of information is nearly perfect, so even a newbie will be able to tie a decent fly, as well as having a wealth of info for anyone. I can't recommend this book any higher! Just, don't loan it to anyone! It's priced low enough that they can buy their own.
