This book is VITAL for anyone interested in weaving on an inkle loom.
This is THE manual for anyone interested in weaving on an Inkle loom. Don't own one? The book includes a directory of suppliers. The basics of setting up and weaving on the loom are covered. Full color illustrations of each design are accompanied by a pattern to follow - AND the book also explains clearly how to READ an inkle pattern. Other pattern books skip this step! The book also explains how to achieve fancy warp manipulations including Baltic surface patterns, lettering, South American pebble weaving, Scandinavian Krokbragd, Soumak and loop embroidery and Turkish knots. The photo is of my very first project. The weaving is quick and easy. Fun.

Not written for beginners, but one you'll want in your library
I got this book because it was what was "linked" (others bought XXX with this...) to the loom I was buying, so I decided to try it. The book has a hard cover and spirals for the spine that allow the pages to lie flat--very nice feature and excellent forethought on the author's and/or publisher's part. The patterns in there are very cool and I'm looking forward to trying most of them--and coming up with some of my own (which the author encourages)! Anne Dixon clearly knows what she is doing, and while her directions and information are good and definitely useful, she's been doing it so long that some of it was a bit over my head (being the complete novice that I am). However, I've been able to fill in the gaps by watching videos on inkle looms and how to weave on them. (Yay for Google and nice people who post stuff!) The three videos that helped the most were quite different from each other (beginner to expert) and different styles (no doubt that contributed to them being helpful). The three are:http://edythmiller.blogspot.com/2014/02/baltic-style-pickup-inkle-weaving.html (Edyth Miller's blog post was particularly helpful)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gec2C_ChCm8http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08huXOt_46USo, this book gets 4 stars rather than 5 because the beginner-level information could have been put together clearer and in a more accessible way...but it's worth the investment.

The BEST Inkle Weaving Book Ever!
I had a copy of Helene Bress' book for years, then gave it away to a new student when I moved on to other things. When I decided to start inkling again I looked and looked for the Bress book, but it was tough to find and expensive when I got lucky. Then THIS book came out! I don't care if I never see the Bress book again...this book is the absolute best book for inkling that I could imagine!First off, the binding is excellent...flat-opening spiral binding that makes keeping a pattern page open as simple as possible. The paper is sturdy and medium glossy, making the photo examples as beautiful as possible. The photography is excellent, with necessary close-ups and nice, thoughtful displays. The threading patterns are sensible and easy to read. And, bottom-line, the price is more than reasonable considering the work that went into this comprehensive volume. This truly can be the first and last inkle book a weaver would need, with enough patterns and variations to keep one busy for a very long (and satisfying) time.

Awesome
If you want to do inkle weaving this is a go to book. I’ve already made two of the patterns in it!

A Must Have.
This is a MUST HAVE for the inkle or tape loom owner. This isn't a "how to get started with your loom" guide. You'll need a simple pamphlet from your loom manufacturer and maybe a YouTube video to learn to warp your loom and get good tension, to start and end a band, etc. This is the book you'll keep with your loom, the magic, the pattern guide! It contains the information you'll want for the rest of your journey with the band-type loom. Good examples, handy layout, lays flat. The companion to Anne Dixon's Handweaver's Pattern Directory that lives next to my floor looms.
