Alert 3225ATC Retractable Cord Reel, 25 Foot 16/3 SJT Cord with Tri Tap Outlets and Circuit Breaker

I got this as a gift for my spouse for her garage setup. It is hanging from the garage ceiling next to the garage door opener. It works well and retracts smoothly. It is a bit heavier than expected but it is heavy duty! Not disappointed I bought this.

I love having a pull down cord in the center of my garage. I was lucky enough to have an outlet already installed for the garage door opener. One thing I'd recommend - - When you determine the location you want the stop-ball to remain, wrap the cord both above it and below it with some electrical tape. Otherwise, when the outlet retracts, the stop will slide a little bit each time until you can't reach it.

It's OK for the price and will suit my needs, I just hope it lasts. I mounted this on the ceiling in my garage - the mounting options that come with the cord are for wall. The hook you see in the picture is how they want it hung, not mounted on a hinge type mount that comes with the reel for mounting on the wall. I removed the hook you see in the item picture used the wall mount bracket on the ceiling - using a cotter pin to hold the pin in.The next thing is the cord - it's thinner than any of my extension cords - even for being only 10A cord, the shielding is thin. Also the stop ball (the part that determines how far down the plug hangs from the reel) does not come with anything to adjust the length - had to use a zip tie.Positives - The female plug section has an LED light that lights up when there is power. The Cord extends and retracts smoothly. It's a light duty cord, but the reel itself seems hefty and well built.

Great, except if you plan on walking around your shop with powertools. The cords dont lock into their sockets.

Circuit breaker pops too easy

Not much to say, it works as advertised, looks good and seems to be very well built all at a reasonable price.

This is so convenient. It includes the parts to hang on the ceiling or on the wall. The only issue is that I can't seem to figure out how to adjust the ball so that there is 2-3 feet of the extension hanging from the ceiling so that I can reach it. The ball seems to just slide. Works great. I used this on my table saw, but it trips the circuit breaker because the watts are probably too high.

I was a little skeptical, at first, of this reel, but the other purchasers gave it good marks.I am thrilled by it. The construction is first rate. I hang mine from the ceiling from the special hook they provide. They also provide a bracket if you want to mount it to a wall.One great feature is that the "ball" that determines how far the reel will re-wind is easily configured to leave any length of cord out. I simply put a cable tie at the point on the cord that I did not want the ball to pass. Voila!This is really great and well worth the price. I'm going to get two of them for Xmas presents for my family.
