The Erg Book: 375+ of the Greatest Indoor Rowing Workouts of All Time

Well organized
Great series of workouts. Each one has an estimated time clearly indicated. So if I only have 20 minutes that day I can scan for one that I can do in that length of time. If I have an hour, then I can look for an hour long workout. They are also organized by levels; if you're kind of out of shape or doing an active rest you can choose from some of the easier ones, but over time you can progress to the more challenging workouts. This helps to make sure you don't overexert yourself or get disheartened. The beginning of the book teaches you about the rowing machine and how to understand the numbers displayed on it. This can help you get the most out of your workout because you'll be able to gage every stroke whether you're effectively pulling using your power.

Excellent book if you have a Concept 2 ERG
Excellent book if you have a Concept 2 ERG. Explains and shows perfect form. Educates you on ERG terminology and of course has lots of great workouts.

Well worth the money!
This book should ship with the Concept2 - lots of good information. I expect that I will not need any source of workouts for at least a full year, probably more if I continue to cycle through them. Worth the money.Update to the review -Still using the book and loving it. One area of frustration though is when the book says, "5 min at 80% of max pressure". I have no idea how to set the rower to accomplish this. I know how to measure it, but then setting up the rower to do that is a different thing...

Winter Training Made Easy
I coach for a masters club team and my rowers aren't going to know what hit them this winter. We've already done two of the team workouts and some of the body circuits. The team workout 'spin the bottle' was the most fun I've ever seen my rowers have while erging. This book should inject some life into our winter training. Sure, you can get free workouts online, but these are more detailed and its great to have everything in one place. Training programs are well organized and make it easy to plan workouts. I really like the mix of workouts, which we plan to use when we're back on the water in the spring. Great book!

Excellent
Takes some of the guesswork out of having a good erg workout, and makes it more interesting! Instead of just doing a 5k or a 10k all the time, lots of the workouts break it down into shorter segments with various stroke rates & intensity levels for you to focus on- really relieves the monotony. Additionally, it is very easy to pick a workout for your ability/strength level, since the book organizes the workouts by "easy", "moderate", and "advanced", and then by whether the workout is aerobic, anaerobic, etc.All in all, great resource!12/7/17 Update: Been doing workouts from this book for 6 months + and I still love it!

Good book, poor support.
I like the book, but in terms of them explaining how to use the book for workouts - to me the explanations are very basic, and there are so many workouts and many of them I cannot decipher. The book has an email address for the reader to contact for any questions, but they do not answer the emails. I have sent them 2 emails in the last 8 days asking them for assistance on how to read the workouts, but so far nothing - I find that to be very poor customer service. Why put an email address for the reader to contact the authors on questions on the book if you are not going to reply to them?

Great book of workouts
This is a great book of workouts for indoor rowing. I reference it all the time for new workouts to keep things interesting and have given several as gifts to people who buy rowing machines. That is how I got mine originally.

An excellent ergo training book
Excellent ergo book - couple of reasons:I've been rowing for some time (water and ergo) and struggled to find a clear and simple explanation of the correct stroke to make sure I'm doing it right but also explain to others - it's really clear and concise, with a lighter approach than the more formal books in circulation - only thing I would add is make sure the handle is over your knees before coming up the slide! Also, the workouts themselves are a revelation - I was getting soooo bored of the ergo that it was putting me off training - I've done about 10 or so workouts, all completely different - all the workouts are graded with a 'pain' rating, what kind of workout you will get (AN, TR etc), split into beginnner, intermediate and expert, and very helpfully how long each workout will take - I have limited time in the mornings so this is great. The book also has an example 2K and 6k (heads) 14 week example workout - it tells you what type of exercise to do for each day and leaves it for you to choose out of all the options NB you need to set a 2K and 6k time early doors as most of the workouts are based off these threshold splitsOnly request would be to have a few more examples for the unimaginative amongst us, e.g. 3 workouts a week (although strictly speaking that's covered as the book recommends replacing some of the O2 workouts with something else e.g. running, cycling etc)All in all, a great buy and would strongly recommend

Delivers what it says
This delivers exactly what the title suggests - more than 375 different workout suggestions, from pretty straightforward to some that are absolutely brutal. All are rated on a scale to tell you just how hard they ought to feel, and categorised by their main objectives (against headings covering speed, power and cardio which will be familiar to ergers). The introduction gives some helpful tips on technique and on how to use the book and the final chapter includes some useful, non-erg, core exercises. A few pounds well spent.

Fantastic book! The exercises range from nice and easy to ones that try and destroy you (a chllenge!). Well written, with a bit of humour, i absolutly recommend it to beginners through to those that have been rowing since the Vikings came over
