Excellent Product and Services
For protecting fruit trees and vege garden from animals I fenced in around a acre of my wooded lot last year. Now it's the last thing to do to add a swing gate to the driveway. After research online I decided to go with the Topens PW 302 light duty opener package for a lightweight gate. The gate has two panels with 9-foot on each side. 6x6 pressure treated wooden posts (make sure they are straight otherwise you would have trouble later to lineup the gates). For the gate frame, 2x4s for mounting the joints on the posts, 1x6s for the other three edges and the mid beam. 1x2s for the triangular beams. 1x1" chicken wire fence to cover the whole gate. One of my friends helped me to set up the posts and I did the rests. I just had a brand new driveway rebuild recently so I was planning to cross the driveway overhead from tree to tree for the power/control wires for the otherside opener. By doing that four 25-foot 5-conductor wires need to be connected, protected and cross the driveway with a 40-foot long steel wire for the strength. After weighing the pros and cons, went with cutting the new driveway and burry the 25-foot wire inside 1/2" PVC pipe is the final solution. Both power supply box and the control box are put inside a cheap weatherproof boxes. See them in the second photo. The manual included is pretty clear with step by step instructions even though a little bit more details at some steps may be even better. Make sure carefully read it and understand it before starting. My gate is set up as Pull To Open. One mistake made was slightly off of the piston end bolts' positions. Had to make new holes for the correct positions. Used 1/2" hard pvc pipes for underground wire protection and soft pvc pipes for above ground. The gate works fine and the remote control operated from long distance even inside the house.Bought a Push Button (TC 147) for outside open/close but received the button without a mounting box. Later found out it's not for outdoor application. Chloe at Customer service has been a great helper to assist me on this and even willing to look into sending me a TC 148 button which is for outdoor use. Chloe is very knowledgeable, treat customs with respect, and response quickly. Considering the support team could be at different time zones, sometimes 12 to 24 hours delay is expected. Used email only and no phone support.Overall, Topens PW 302 is a high quality product and it gets the job done. The customer service, especially Chloe, is excellent. The third photo is a small door on the gate for delivery package drop off.Improvements if can. The installation instruction recommends to keep the control box from the weather conditions. I put both the controller and the power supply box inside a weatherproof boxes which increased the time an efforts for the installation. Hope Topen use better weatherproof boxes for the two units which shouldn't add too much cost to the overall cost.

Works as advertised!
I purchased this kit for our new house not knowing much about gate openers, but being pretty tech-savvy. I was busy with the move and paid someone else to install it, and wound up having to correct some of his work, but I will say the product performs great if accurately installed. Part of my problem was sagging gates, but once we fixed that, and once I reinforced the mounting areas with steel plates I got from Lowes, all was good. I added a rubber stop at the bottom of my driveway so the gates would come together perfectly and the electric lock engages more easily that way. Essentially, I cut about 2" off a rubber mallet to create a "rubber hockey puck", drilled a 3/4" hole through it, drove a piece of 1/2" CPVC through the hole and left about 3" of pipe sticking out, then drove that piece of pipe into the 3/4" hole that was already drilled in my driveway for the cane bolts on the gates, making sure the pipe was flush with top of my hockey puck. This works awesome. I haven't ever tried any of the other brands of openers mentioned in some of these reviews, and likely won't because this one works so well. By the way, I also installed the controller panel, power supply, and the HLR01 Homelink receiver in a old Brinks metal cabinet that housed the replaced alarm system, and ran PVC conduit out of that to house my cabling - it looks pretty good, if I do say so myself.

Much better than similar Mighty Mule
So I had bought a mighty mule system MM272 for over $500 and I could never get it to work right because the control board had some problem and it would never stay calibrated, which is done digitally on mighty mule and manually on this product. Anyway, after sending the control board back two different times and each time you have to call mighty mule technical support and stay on the phone for well over an hour and send them pictures and they try to accuse you of doing it wrong, I just had to eat it. I’m a very capable mechanic and electrician and I definitely didn’t install it wrong, (The Mighty Mule) it’s simple enough.I ordered this one and it installed easily and worked right away and has been working for two months. It turns out that it also has two significant benefits over the mighty mule even if that failed product had worked. It’s 24 V so you can run a low-voltage wire for quite a lot longer and I don’t need batteries at all or a solar, works great with a 100 foot run of buried copper wire 24 V, the electric lock accessory works well too directly powered. They give you a much more robust transformer whereas mighty mule just gives you a charger and you have to have a battery system with that cost.Additionally with the mighty mule remote, you pretty much had to be parked at the gate for it to work whereas these remotes work quite a ways away so I can actuate it about half a block away as I approach the gate so it’s open when I drive in.Completely satisfied so far. I haven’t had to use technical support so I can’t comment on that, but the best tactical support is the one you never have to use. If you have to use mighty mule support I feel sorry for you.

Good gate opener, even better support staff
The install of this is fairly easy with just a drill and socket set. Sadly we had a bad control board, but Topens was extremely responsive to the issue and sent a new board out immediately. If you can hang a gate. You can install this opener.

Works like a charm
Super easy to install. I did have to solder a few wires together for my setup, but it wasn’t bad at all. Takes about 30 seconds to go from fully closed to fully open on the “Push to Open” set up. Overall we love it!
