The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy

Missing 16 pages
I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my son. He just sat down to play and the book is missing pages 13 through 28. It is past the return window so I cannot request a replacement. I would give 5 stars if it weren't missing 3 songs.

A day may come where I stop playing these pieces...
BUT IT SHALL NOT BE THIS DAY!What a book, I was on a Lord of the Rings rollercoaster, oooh, the mystery of the ring, then BAM! I'm in the Shire! Seeing as this was an orchestral score, they've transcribed it really well. It's missing some parts which were probably impossible to transcribe, like the percussion heavy Isengard music, but without being ridiculously hard, it really captures the mood of the music from the films. I'd say it's about Grade 4-6ish equivalent on the whole.

and I'd be happy with the book even with all those problems
Personally I don't think this is worth the money. The main reason I gave the book a low rating is because after the first 30-60 min of playing the binding on the book started to break. On day 1 the you can see the binding starting to break! I'd give it a week or two before the binding has broken completely. There is very little pedal guidelines - it just says "with pedal" for most pieces (which I guess is acceptable), almost no fingering, the tempo notations can say moderately for one piece when a crotchet is 105-110 bpm, and moderately for another where they are 65-70 bpm. But to be honest, that'd only take it down to 4 stars, and I'd be happy with the book even with all those problems, since they are really quite minor, it's the binding that really made me give this book a bad review, I don't want to pay for a book which falls apart after a year of playing, never mind a few weeks!

This is not piano solos
Of the 19 pieces in the book, only four are piano solos. The remainder all include choral or vocal parts which are not adequately covered by the piano accompaniment. This should be reclassified as piano/vocal, as in fact it is shown on the front cover in the picture.
