Blissfully quiet nights.
The neighbor's dogs used to go crazy at night when the raccoons and possums used the shared top fence rail as a freeway along our back-to-back, and side yards. At Predator Guard's customer service's suggestion, I bought a 4-pack to use on the perimeter of my back yard. The units charged in one day and I placed them in strategic corner positions on the top fence rail. The nights have been blissfully quiet since then. I'm not sure if the critters are naturally less active now than they were in November and December, or if the units are the sole cause of less activity. I don't care. Something's working. I move the units occasionally to disrupt patterns, but I only do that once every week or two. BTW, customer service is awesome. One of the four units malfunctioned 5 days after the Amazon return period. (Of course!) Predator Guard quickly responded to my email by referring me to their website's page detailing the return procedure. I followed the procedure exactly and mailed the malfunctioning unit to their returns location. I was so shocked when I received a brand new replacement unit in the mail less than a week later. WOW! All perimeters of my yard protected, once again.

I had posted an earlier review of one star, I misunderstood how the product worked. I do not know how to remove the first review. It works unbelievable well. It is almost scary when you watch how the lights blink in different patterns from a distance. I used a plastic tie and hung each one on a single solar light holder so I can periodically move them around the yard. I think I have solved my issues with the Bob Cats. My dogs had become frighten to roam as they could smell the scent from the Bob Cats. Thank you so much for developing a product that does not use chemicals or harm another animal and that makes it good for the planet.

tips for optimizing a less than ideal system
Hi, all,I consider these red blinking lights to be an inferior defense against predators compared to other methods I know to be almost 100% effective for my situation, methods such as electric fence / netting, steel cage, or coop with wooden walls. That being said, I am deliberately choosing a method I know is not foolproof, for reasons other than how well it works. In my case the aesthetics of having an electric fence cutting across my suburban backyard wasn't a great look.Anyways, so I decided to try these lights, in combination with another method (Foxlights Night Predator). The main weakness of these particular lights is keeping them charged and blinking through a long winter night. To state the obvious for folks who might not know better, there are a heck of a lot of predators that are active just before dawn so these lights really need to be blinking all night long if they are going to have any benefit.Having these lights in position to protect your chickens (let's say) AND receive enough charge during the day to keep blinking through the night in winter, it's not really possible, because inevitably you will have to position one or more of the lights where it isn't going to get enough sun to charge. What I ended up doing is buying extra lights, a total of eight. I deploy five of them and leave the other three "on reserve" charging in a spot where they get a lot of sunlight. Just last night I had to swap a couple of the "deployed" lights out because they had lost their charge because they are facing the wrong direction to get enough sunlight to charge, or else they are shaded.NOW the combination of eight of these lights + the Foxlights Night Predator + the recent deployment of an electric fence (since taken down), this combination has resulted in NO night-time predators taking out our chickens.Still, I'm keeping my fingers crossed....

Nothing but a false sense of security.
This did not work in the slightest. I bought 4 and placed them around my chicken enclosure in the hope of warding or predators. But I lost a chicken to a ringtail cat last night. I checked out the surveillance and I have highlighted the cat in red and the placement of the guard in yellow. You can see clearly it did not deter the cat in the slightest as it came running straight up to it. This offers nothing more than a placebo affect and false sense of security.

My Hens are Still Alive!
Bought this as a last resort to protect my 14 chickens’ coop. We left out of town for a week and had no way to close the coop entrance to the hen house without asking a neighbor to come over after dusk every day, and then again in the morning to let them out. We have coyotes raccoons and opossums in our area that have attacked our chickens at night several times over the years when we’ve forgotten to close the door. Took a risk and bought the 4 pack, and set 3 up around the coop entrance at varying critter heights, and 1 along the ramp up to the hen house Well, it’s been a week and a half, and there have been no nighttime attacks. Chickens don’t seem fazed by the lights.UPDATE: 9/4/18 - After 2 months, I have not closed the door to the coop and there has not a single attack. In fact, I came face to face with a raccoon on 2 nights near my rear deck, so I know they're out there. I have full confidence that these 4 units will continue to protect my hens at night.

Great when they work!
Bought a four pack around 12/26/19 after losing another chicken to the area coyote population. We put them around our large chicken coop area to cover all four corners and it seems to keep our large flock safe. Well, at least when they work. I believe the first one stopped working at about the ten day point, and another at fourteen days. They are positioned to receive plenty of full AZ sun all day long. Playing with the button on the back has allowed us to get one of the two working sporadically, but the other one is dead. I could probably get another rechargeable battery but shouldn’t have to this early.
