Q: Can you go back and forth between keypad and keyboard without switching numlock or will half of your typing on the keyboard be numbers if you do that.

You can go back and forth between keypad and keyboard without switching numlock. I have a gold touch keyboard and keypad and mine works well together.

Q: is this compatible with mac?

The numeric pad is USB and will work with either the Goldtouch PC or MAC version keyboard.
