as for chain mail looking, this looks better than actual chain mail. Not to mention that it weighs less and feels comfortable. and cheap. and it comes with a hoodie part, which when layered properly (The secret to good Renaissance fair attire )underneath shoulder armor and a cape, looks really legit. Between this cheap costume and another cheap amazon accessory, I got a bad ass costume for Renaissance stairs and Halloween. all under 100 bucks. I get complimented all the time

My family and I love all sorts of costuming and cosplay. I oftentimes go for screen-quality realism, but sometimes it's just not practical. This faux-chainmail is a GREAT alternative to real chainmail if you're not going for pure realism. It's far cheaper, far lighter, and far more comfortable than making/buying a real chainmail tunic and cowl. We used this for our Monty Python & the Holy Grail themed Halloween costumes this year, and everyone loved the look! Note that in the photos the cowl IS metal chainmail, but the sleeves are from this item—take a close look at them and you'll see they look great! We used the cloth cowl from this costume on Halloween as it was FAR more comfortable for all night festivities. Highly recommended!

This chain mail looks pretty nice at first glance. It's lightweight and actually comfortable to wear without wearing a shirt underneath. It does looks like chain mail, but up close you can definitely tell that it's not real chain mail, but that's to be expected as it is supposed to be a cheap alternative to real chain mail.* The only issue is that the silver is not as pronounced as we want it to be. It's woven together in a black netting pattern giving the chain mail like appearance, but the black netting covers most of the silver.

The cowl and tunic are separate. The tunic fits well, a little long (and that's a good thing for it's look) on an XL sized male, which I think might be it's upper size limit. It may fit 2XL but with tightness. It's all fabric, very light. The pattern looks great from a distance, because the metallic effect comes from a separate mess, like fishnet hovering over the black fabric and only attached at the seems. It's fairly durable for it's design, well made, and looked great for my use as an undershirt 'chainmail' with a knight outfit.It's a very light material overall, which helped as I took it to a comic-con in a mid-atlantic city during the summer, worn under foam armor. It breathes about as well as can be expected.I highly recommend it for budget minded cosplay, halloween or stage use.

This does NOT look like chainmail in anyway in person. It looks like fabric that looks like chainmail, but overall, it works as part of an elaborate costume like my son put together. Would purchase again, just know, it is not going to look like chainmail.

I got this for my son and I just wish this came in smaller sizes. It looks good, better than some of the kids costumes with its fabric mesh over another fabric and my wife was able to modify it to make it smaller to fit.

I was looking at chainmail and most of what I saw was not exactly what I was looking for, had bad reviews, or was a little more than I wanted to spend on a halloween costume. I saw this and read the reviews and figured I'd take a chance. I have to say that this stuff really is a great alternative. Real chainmail like this weighs about 40 pounds.. this is light weight fabric and It's very comfortable too. I did buy a real chainmail coif for my head and I am going to wear it but the fabric coif with this really is nice too. My info: I wear a size 48 jacket or an XL shirt size and this fits me very well. I'm 5'7 about 210 and wear a 38" pant size. Hat size is 7 1/4. Would be happier if this was just a tad longer at the bottom (like 3") to get the bottom closer to crotch level. Being fat doesn't help my cause.. lol. Despite that, I am very happy with this purchase.
