Best value GPS if you update it
I bought this but its so hard to update but this is why the used model i bought no one had updated it. So when i updated it worked so much better as there are so many updates upto 2013. Touch screen is not capasitive you must push in better with nails.Pros it tells you what side your address is in and a sound alert to tell you to turn.

My Go Anywhere device
The Magellan Roadmate is my second GPS. Its features are far superior to the first GPS I owned. It works very quickly and intuitively. The mounting stand works great, and for a leave-in-your-car GPS system I am very happy with the Magellan Roadmate.

Good support can make all the difference
Magellan uses a program called "Magellan Content Manager" to update software and maps. I have used it for my Magellan 1475Ts.Content Manager could not "register" my 3120. I contacted support and got a canned reply, is it plugged in? Is your computer turned on? etc, etc. I said yes, yes, yes, please escalate.Couple days later I got mail from a real person. He was knowledgeable, didn't treat me like an idiot, and he stuck with me to resolve all my issues. He suggested I change the name of the 3120 in content manager. So instead of the default "Magellan Roadmate 3120" I changed it just "3120". The registration was successful! Go figure. But then when I tried to download the software update, Content Manager failed, put up a lot of screwy messages, and bricked my GPS.The guy at Magellan quickly explained how to unbrick my GPS (there are plenty of instructions how to do this on the Internet).I asked him, how can I download updates in the future without bricking my GPS, and he acknowledged the problems in Content Manager and said they would most likely be resolved by the time another firmware update comes out and you know what, I believe they will. It's not good that there were problems updating the GPS, definitely not good that the software bricked my GPS, but when a problem occurred Magellan support was responsive, respectful and effective. That to me makes all the difference and gives me confidence in the device. The main reason I bought this GPS is because it does not have Traffic. My 1475T GPSs have ad-based traffic. In the years I have owned them, there has never been a single traffic incident reported. But I do get ads. I get ads even when I turn traffic completely off. So I bought the 3120 in order not to have to look at ads in exchange for a traffic feature that doesn't work.

Could be a great GPS unit, maybe......
The first evening, I spent about 2 hours trying to register the unit and update the software. Wouldn't work. Called Magellan the following morning and after waiting on hold for 30 minutes, a young man named Jed, (who spoke good English and was outside the U.S)took my call to help me. He was professional, cordial and after another 40 minutes or so, the unit was ready to go, sort of. It initially showed my address as a street behind me (still does - couldn't resolve. After dinking with it we were able to get it to show my street and approximate location, but it wouldn't indicate the actual street address. At this point, close was close enough. So far, maybe good. Now, I'm ready to load some addresses and start to use it. Loading the addresses was fairly simple, but the manual doesn't explain how the multiple addresses are accessed, or optimized, as Magellan refers to it. I bought this unit because I started a new job that requires me to visit multiple addresses daily (at least 10) and this unit will allow multiple addresses to be inputed and it will list them in sequential proximity, a great feature and one that I don't know that any other GPS can do; the main reason I purchased a Magellan - and also their prices seemed to be the best. Now, I should point out that, by this time the battery was dead even though the unit had been plugged into the computer. Wait, it can't be charged by the computer, only by the car charger or the "optional" wall charger that wasn't indicated as needed. Of course, I didn't have one of those. So now, I have to sit in the car with the unit charging to try to figure out how to work the darn thing. I finally went back to my pc, leaving the unit to charge in my car, and went on the website for help. The website is not too user friendly - I'd rate it a 6 or 7. The first time I found the support page with downloads, it didn't display all the categories. Frustrated again, I decided to call customer support. The hold time was shorter this time - maybe 20 minutes or so. I got another friendly and seemingly capable young man named Bon. After some discussion, he informed me that there are no instructions on how to use multiple addresses in the user handbook that came with the unit. That information is in the 38 page User "Manual" that can be downloaded and read on my computer or printed out for convenient reference. While talking to Bon, I went back to the car to see if he could help me learn how to use the unit. Low and behold, all the addresses were gone, apparently deleted by me somewhere along the way. At this point I thanked Bon and decided to print the manual and see if I can figure out how to use the unit. Next, I printed the manual and it is not an easy read. That all being said, I read the manual and still coudn't figure out how the darn thing works. So I made my third phone call to customer support. Waited 40 minutes on hold and Ralph answered. He tried to educate me and I thought he did.... but, after hanging up, I still got hung up on a screen and didn't know how to proceed. So now, tomorrow, I will see my friend who recommended this to me and have him show me how to make it work. He's very happy with his.So far, I have a new unit that needs to be updated out of the box and a user handbook that isn't handy or even complete. It also can't find my home address or location. It's close, but no cigar. You also have to practice with it fully charged by your vehicle, or plugged in, in your vehicle. So, If you plan on buying one of these, know that you have to register it, update the software, and download (and print) the 38 page User Manual if you want to learn how everything works. Sort of a DIY project. To save you some time, here's the customer service number - 800-707-9971. I would highly recommend that you have a live, go to person who is familiar with these units. Hopefully, at some point, I'll be satisfied with it. I wanted to rate it a 5 before I purchased it. At one point I was down to a 1. I finally setled on 3 because I think it could be one of the best units available, maybe.UPDATE: I reduced this from 3 stars to 1 star. I quit trying to use it for a few months just because it took too much time talking to tech support. I just spent over 90 minutes talking to tech support 3 times today, the last time talking to a supervisor. Nobody can explain how to put in multiple addresses and then proceed to the closest one, then the next, and so on. I'm not supposed to know how it works, but tech support should be smarter than me. I know someone that has one of these and knows how it works - he's smarter than Magellan's tech support. I'm going to find him and have him explain how the darn thing works. DO NOT buy this unless you have a live go to person to explain how to program it.

Is it me? Or is it Magellan?
This is the third GPS I've had, all three Magellans. I love the way they work, but they don't last very long before they die(?) on me. I've had this 14 months and it lights up with Magellan logo and little clock thing going around and nothing else happens. The other two, after too short a time (don't remember) would give me that opening screen and say the battery would power down in 10 seconds, which it did, and wouldn't turn on again without a lot of jiggling cords and plugging and unplugging the power, at which time it went back to the 10 second thing. Lather. Rinse. Repeat ad infinitum. Is there some kind of internal battery issue I'm ignorantly unaware of? Or do I need to switch brands I wonder?

The GPS works great with no issues. Very helpful getting me where I need to go in unfamiliar areas. Seller met my expectations and would do business again with them.

Fun in Las Vegas with Magellan GPS
Went to Las Vegas for vacation and went to places like Lake Mead, Mount Charleston and Hoover Dam. This GPS performed really well. The directions were fast and accurate.... Raul of Lakewood WA
