Some of the pieces aren't transcribed except where the solos happen. That is, where the piano comps, or just plays back up, those passages aren't transcribed, only noted..."piano comps"....Which as an accompanist, really doesn't help do the tunes proper justice. Overall a good buy. Some parts are really good.

Don't get the fuss about it not being wholly accurate, it's near enough to give the enjoyment of following the score. Arrived exactly when they said it would and was well packaged. Personally I am delighted with it - now to try to learn some of Coltrane's sax lines !

このテキストは、カインドを採譜したものである。いわゆるマッチングスコアとは若干異なり、全パートがベタで記譜されているわけではない。適宜省略されているところはあるのだが、ソロに関しては、マイルスだけでなく、コルトレーン等の演奏も漏れなく載っている。これらは、各楽器にあわせて移調されたキーになっているから、総譜を見ると段ごとに記号が違っていて異様だが、楽譜を見て演奏するときにまごつかなくてすむ。ソー・ホワットのイントロのように重要な部分は、チェンバースのベースラインも含めて、記譜されている。ただし、全編を通じて、ドラムは記譜されていない。私は、このテキストを見ながら音を聴き、はからずもコルトレーンのうまさ、を改めて感じた。いくどとなく聴いてきたアルバムでも、埋もれていた短いソロを発見したりするものだ。やはり、フレーズが見える、というのは、ただ聴いているのとは違う細やかな印象を与えるものなのではないだろうか？カインド・オブ・ブルーについて熱く語る人は今までにもたくさんいたし、これからもそうだろう。聴けば聴くほどすごいアルバムだが、その楽しみ方がまた一つ、増えたわけだ。

A note for note transcription of all these classic jazz recordings! Miles at his best. Coltrane, Adderley, Evans, and the great Paul Chambers too. What else can you ask for? There’s a reason this is the Number One Jazz album ever sold throughout history!!! KOB, sounds as fresh and timeless today as it did in 1959, that’s 64 years ago!!! Buy this one, there are no disappointments here!!!

The transcription of Kind of Blue pieces presents a fun selection of items to play through and regenerate into your own style. 'So What' transcription gives me the basis to emulate and add onto that favorite jazz melody that changed music forever. Some folks think this print should be a total replication of the original. I totally disagree, since playing these pieces has to come with the ability to modify to your own likening.I like the book, well conceived. Thank you.
