Favorite mic as a food creator
After a year’s use, I think I can give a pretty honest review. So Im a food reel creator and this mic has been instrumental in getting great sound. Small and compact, and love the use of batteries as opposed to charging. I ended up buying a separate longer cable more flexibility of placement. The ONLY con I would say I have is there is a humming sound in the final result, but I’ve been able to edit it out in Final Cut Pro. Would recommend :)

Pleasantly surprised about this microphone…
It’s Sennheiser, what do you expect? Of course I was going to like it, but I bought the product used, so I was definitely surprised to find out how well it performed. The battery life is excellent, just make sure to carry a couple extra in emergencies. It is very portable on my rig, and can be used on a gimbal due to how light it is. Since I purchased it used, it was so affordable for what you get out of it! It might not be as directional as you’d like it to be, but it performs better than my built in mic on my camera, and even uses a cold shoe! It would be nice if there was a hot shoe option, but I digress. It has two cables to connect with, one of which I solely use. The mic quality is excellent, and I would recommend it to anyone that doesn’t really need the $1k boom mic, but still is looking for portability, and quality. My biggest complaint is how it twists on to the cold shoe mount. I feel as if it fell off a bit more then I’d like it to, but that might have been the fault of the cage on my camera, who knows… but all in all, it’s worth the purchase for your next videography gig!!

Neat and effective directional mic for DSLR and phone filming.
A light, neat, easy to set up mic that does what it says in terms of bringing a warm, directional audio recording to my Sony A7Sii and iPhone 17 Pro. Indoors, the directional mic reduces tinny roomy echo for both the camera and the phone, but I haven't used it outdoors yet. 3 features I particularly like. 1) The auto On feature is really useful in case you forget to turn it on, and the iPhone 17 Pro automatically selects the mic as the audio input once connected, so I didn't have to go into Settings to override the phone's mic. 2) I like the cable connection in preference to messing around with yet another Bluetooth pairing that might drop signal. 3) The package that includes the mini pod for the iPhone is a great bit of solid, easy to set up kit that doubles as a mini tripod for my camera. 3 small criticisms. 1) The mic's output mini jack doesn't tighten without a bit of pressing, implying that mine might be a little out of line internally? 2) Doesn't come supplied with a minijack-to-USBC input for the phone, so I had to buy an adapter and hope it worked (an Apple one did). 3) The gain has to be switched to high for the iPhone for a loud enough recording that doesn't hiss (my camera seems fine with normal gain). An easy switch to do, but one more thing to remember before you record on the phone, because it doesn't have audio level meters to show you that the input signal is low. Overall looks like good value for money if it lasts. I'm a professional who uses Senneheiser gun mics for TV shows, and the pro level Sennheisers are the go-to for reliable run and gun filming. I hope this domestic version lives up to their good name.

Discrete with Good Sound
Kids are now singing in programs so needed something better than the huge generic mic that came with a lense package. This thing costs a bit more than the rest but it's not so "obvious" than the other mics when mounted. Even with the dead-cat, which worked well outdoors in a light breeze, it was not so eye-catching as others that I've seen. I'm glad I purchased this version instead of the smaller one because this unit will turn itself on as soon as you turn on the camera. With my other cheapo one, I kept the mic off to save on battery life and just forgot to turn it on when I switched the camera on to record. Luckily I caught it during the welcome and intro speeches. Battery life seems to be pretty good. I haven't ran it until it died because that would be a bad thing while recording something. But I probably recorded about 1.5 hrs worth of video without any issues before just changing out the battery for the next program. When researching different brands, I actually preferred the replaceable battery mics, since I have rechargeable batteries and if I needed something quick, AAAs are easy to find.

A little big for my liking but the sound is incredible. Did not need the wind cat. Reliable. Worth it.
