First off, I've seen reviews where people complain about the difficulty of assembly...it's just not true. Is it a time-consuming build, yes. But if you unpack this carefully, organize all of the pieces, and take your time screwing components together, it goes together perfectly.This is a well engineered and beautifully designed pergola, fits our space perfectly. It's also heavy enough on it's own that it doesn't need to be anchored to our deck. The only part I'm not fond of is that you have drill into the metal to attach the power box, so I left that off. That would just create exposed and cut metal to the elements, and with how well this is made I don't think it's worth the risk.Fantastic job definitely recommend.

When you receive the four boxes, unpack all 4 and lay out the parts by type. Each part is in a plastic sleeve and is associated with a letter. Keep the sleeve on until you are ready to assemble it. The instructions and fasteners are all in “box 4” so be sure to unpack everything before starting. I also recommend using the “BILT” app which gives you very easy to use 3D instructions. You can manipulate the drawing like using CAD software and validate each part and fastener. This can be done on a phone or tablet, but tablet is easier.Assembly is straight forward and I did most of it myself. When putting the frame up, I would suggest having 3 people to help support it. That portion only takes 20 - 30 minutes. There is also a lot of repeat assembly so I would recommend putting all the fasteners in bins so you can quickly grab and assemble. Have a good drill with torque settings, this will help you snug parts together before tightening. Because this product is metal, all the holes will line up very well and you won’t waste a lot of time getting things to fit. I only had one hole not tapped correctly, so if you have an M6 tap laying around, that can also help. All bolts are M6 x 3 different lengths. They will provide 2 wrenches and 2 bits to use with your drill.Total assembly was about 12 hours total of labor, but could be done in 6 if you have 2 people from the start

I am totally impressed. We purchased two10X12 Pergolas and assembled them side by side. Why not just buy one big one you ask, our city, Fullerton, Ca. code says anything over 120 Sq. Feet has to have an engineer approve it and special footings, Etc. A big expense. So, we put up two10X12. The only problem we had there was only one of the anchor plates in the 2nd unit we opened. I called the number on the box, and they answered, it was Sunday, I was sure I would have to wait until Tuesday, it was Memorial Day weekend. She said they would overnight them to us on Tuesday. It took us about 5 hours on the 1st. one and only 4 on the second one. You do need help getting the post put together and stood up but, once you get them up and tied together it's a one-person job.

We are so extremely pleased with this purchase! The app and directions are very easy to follow and assembly was a breeze for my husband and a friend of his. I was a little nervous to go with the steel versus a wooden pergola, but now I am so glad I went this route. I wanted something sturdy, yet maintenance-free since this is at our vacation home. We just want to relax when we are there and we know we will never have to paint or stain this pergola. It is made of heavy-duty galvanized steel and the construction is solid. It is very well made and I am most likely going to order another for our home residence. What an amazing product! We can't say enough good things, we are so extremely pleased with our purchase! Once I have it all styled with furniture I will share pictures:)Update: here is our pergola built and we added a bar underneath! It is perfect! Very sturdy product and super easy construction, my 15 year old son and his friend did most of the pergola construction! Highly recommend this product!

Very nice quality pergola, well worth the money. It is very well made and sturdy and I’m sure it will withstand 100 mile an hour winds, but the soft shade cover will come off when you reach 30 mile an hour winds. At least the straps pulled out of the buckles rather than tearing, but be prepared to take it the cover down when it is windy. We went to the hardware store and purchased proper anchor bolts to fasten the bottom of the posts to concrete rather than using the small bolts that came with it for that. As advertised, it did take two people almost 10 hours to assemble, but quite a bit of that time was spent identifying and organizing the parts before beginning. Love it and recommend it to others looking for one, but wish I didn’t have to mess with putting the cover on and off — maybe a shade cloth with more open weave would stay on better?

This is the perfect pergola. We have a few other backyard Discovery Products and the quality and durability are unmatched so when we were shopping for a pergola, and saw their new steel line that is rust resistant and maintenance free, we didn't hesitate. And I am so glad we didnt as the pergola is so pretty and durable. This is a very heavy, study pergola and the PowerPort is such an awesome feature as we easily strung our outdoor lights from the top which gives a warm glow while enjoying at night. We also are able to charge our devices and our portable speaker which is super convenient. The BILT app made it super easy for mu husband and one of our friends to assemble. Highly recommend this product and would not hesitate to purchase. Ill upload a picture soon when we are finished designing the space!

This is the largest purchase we have made through Amazon. Like many, we were nervous about spending such a large amount online for this new Pergola, however, the reviews were good, price was better than a couple of local retailer's AND it included delivery right into our garage. The Pergola came well packaged and in good shape. We emptied the 4 boxes, laid the parts out in the area where we were going construct our Pergola (making sure NOT to remove parts from their numbered plastic covers) then got up the next morning and, after a quick review of the simplified instructions, put it together. It took 3 of us 6.5 hours. That included running out to our nearest Hardware Store for 16 Lag Bolts to secure our new Pergola to a Trex Deck. We haven't yet installed the electrical box but we are extremely pleased with this Pergola and how it looks on our lakefront deck. Glad we chose this quality product and we expect that it will serve us well for years and years.

Took 5 hours to build with three people! Only disappointment is that the pictures show a cover but there is none provided!! Really would like to know why the cover is not included!! 🤬 After dealing with Backyard Discovery, they made ammends by sending the sail! Customer service the second time was spot on, thank you guys😎👌

If you can brace the first post and maybe the second, two people could build it, I did.
