Plenty of water pressure and excellent volume
Ordered this 1-hp Red Lion pump as a spare when it was on sale and so glad I did. We are on well water, so having spare parts on hand like pump, pipes, connectors, solvent, etc. is a most. After the old pump failed, I had everything I needed to replace it with this pump. Although I bought it when it went on sale, even at normal price it would've been much less expensive than buying a pump locally. The pump is quiet, runs smoothly and provides our house with 60 psi of water pressure, which is plenty of pressure and volume. Like most jet pumps, it requires priming when it's first turn on. When we first move to the house, I made a permanent connection between the irrigation pump piping and the house pump piping with a valve in between. So I used the irrigation pump to supply water under pressure to prime the Red Lion pump and it was up and running in no time. The pump looks and feel like it's well made and runs well. The pressure switch is set to 30-50 psi, so I adjusted it to 40-60 psi. The best way to do this is to turn the pressure adjusting nut clockwise and count each full turn. One full turn of the nut equals approximately 2.5 psi.Anyway, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another one of these pumps in the future. It's a great quality pump and I recommend it.

Not worth the money
I purchased this pump to replace a Wayne pump that went out thinking this pump was of superior quality after reading some reviews. Man was I wrong, I installed the 1st unit as soon as I received it and within hours the pump started to lose its prime. At 1st I though something was wrong with the pipping in my well, but ultimately after speaking to their technical support it was determined that something was wrong with the pump itself. I serviced my well and replaced all of the pipes, installed a new foot valve and I purchased a Flotec well pump while a replacement was sent to me as I was not able to get my money back. I also did this just to make sure the problem was the pump and not my well or pipes. The Flotec pump worked without any issues for the 3 weeks that it took for me to get the replacement pump from Red Lion. I finally received my replacement unit from Red Lion on May 25, 2020. I installed the pump and after having a super hard time priming it I got it to work. Two days later I am back to square one, pump lost its prime and I am having a hard time getting the pump to work. . If you ask me this pump is an overpriced piece of garbage and I will never purchase a Red lion product ever again. Needless to say the Flotec pump is working flawlessly, but now I am stuck with a $300 POS red colored pump.

Good buy, nice pressure and volume.
Works great for a pressure pump from storage tanks and will run at pressure with two hoses open ,and delivers a nice shower. Easy to install.

A little hard to prime but seems excellent
For me this was a very easy install. I had previously used pumps from harbor freight which came with a pressure tank. Having had to replace those pumps approximately every 3 years or less the most recent supposedly improved green model barely making 2 years due to failing tanks, pressure switches, pump motors, etc. that being said I wanted something more heavy duty. I purchased this. The pump company made me believe it could be of cheaper quality as I had never heard of it before. Install was easy for me as I have had plenty of experience with other models as stated over the last ten years. I generally cheat with priming. This is easily done by using a washing machine hose, garden hose, and hooking it from your neighbors hose spigot (if they are close by enough, and don’t mind) and to your hose spigot. Turn theirs on, ensure power is off to your pump, turn your hose spigot on. This will allow water to back-flow and fill the lines and prime the pump. After a few minutes you would turn off your spigot. Power on the pump and see that it’s pumping water. Generally removing any plugs is unnecessary with this process. If you have water pumping generally you’re done and clean up the hoses, thank your neighbor, etc. This generally works excellent and I can have any pump I have tried it on primed in a matter of maybe 10 minutes without trying to carry buckets into my woods to where my pump is located. With this particular pump I had water pumping at good pressure for about 5 minutes. Then it pulsed, then I had no water again. This was repeated about 4 times. No change. I had never had this with any other pump brand. Thinking it had failed I was ready to contact customer support. I decided the pump housing was larger so maybe it was withholding some air some how causing it to lose pressure. I ended up removing both the vent plug with the spigot on, at my end allowing it to still back fill with water. It let out a few air bubbles. It still found air and lost prime once again. At that point having taken a few hours for what would generally take a matter of no more than twenty minutes on a bad day with other brands I loosened the priming plug. Lots more air came out. I put it back in after allowing a water to run out of it I then turned off the outside spigot and powered on the pump. I ran it about 25 minutes with a little air still coming out but it has been two days now, it’s pumping well, and hasn’t lost prime again. I think with any larger pump housing you may have a harder time priming them possibly. It has decent pressure. I can’t really compare it to anything aside from the 1HP harbor freight models. As compared to them, this is far better. Also having your own quality pressure tank will certainly be better than the cheap harbor freight models. The quantity of water and pressure it provides is good. I am wondering if the 30/50 pressure switch could be changed to a 40/60 and it still be able to pump at the higher pressure. The current included pressure switch is about the going rate for most shallow well type pumps though.
