Smoked and Peppered

As advertised, this is a nice blend of mildly seasoned peppered herring packed in its own brine.

Excellent!! I was really nervous about ordering this as my guy loves smoked oysters and mussles. I wanted to try something new for him and I as the benifts are huge from fish. You recieve a generous amount of fish and it looks just like the picture! I think even better. All the spices are there but not over berring. It has a tiny bit of heat for just a second ( We dont do hot spicey), but this tiny heat was perfect! The fish has skin but no bones. It is packed in water but there is a slick of oil too. Perfect. The smoke is subtle enough on the fish as not to drown the delicate flavor. I'm a tad squeemish when it comes to skin and "fishy" tastes and this recipe rocks! You dont need to pair it with anything, but we had an assortment of crackers, fruit, white wine, cheese's, and antiposto. YUMMY! The only difference I personaly would have liked is that the fish be packed in more healthy oils. Just my taste. It dosent need it tho. The can was easy to open with the pull back tab. I am a penny pincher, but the few cents extra on this brand is worth it. I will buy again. Grab yourself some! AWESOME fish for 2 or 4.

So, I tried both, the regular and the pepper ones. And I must say that the pepper ones are very peppery which is a bit much for me. I forgot to check all the ingredients, but pretty sure it’s black pepper and red pepper flakes. There are other spices as well and if not for the amount of pepper, I would’ve liked these too. Pepper aside, they have good flavor, not fishy at all and a bit smoky - but not overpowering. The brine and own juice has good flavor. The fish itself is firm enough to not fall apart, yet soft and not chewy. Great on toast, with veggies, with a salad or with other food combinations. Cans are easy to open, but just a bit tricky to completely take the lid off without the oil splashing a bit off the edge of the lid. But doesn’t need to come off entirely to take the fish fillets out. I’m not a fan of the pepper ones, because for me they’re too peppery. But definitely give the oil & own juice ones a try. However if you like peppery food, then you should really like these.

Very good value. Keep it in mind, it's not pretty and lacks a bit of flavor. But, I just add some lemon juice and it's much better. You can also add other flavors. It doesn't have alot of oil either (that it's cooked in) so that's good as well!

these containers were crushed, damaged and one was leaking when package arrived. There was no packing in the box but the box looked fine. These tins could be a little tougher probably. Taste is excellent. Really good, smokey, pepperie flavor. Best tasting canned seafood I can remember. Just toughen up the packaging a little.

Very tasty! The best deal weight wise for Smoked Herring. Some Triscuits and you are gold! Opening the tin can be tricky, just take your time. Spicy but certainly not hot, yum yum yummy, yummy yum!

What can I say? I've tried every Kipper out there on the market and hands down these are the best by a good amount! I was worried a little bit when I first cracked the tin and the very Briny ocean smell hit my nose, but as soon as I took the first bite,that was in the past. It was smokey, it was peppery it was rich and savory. It was unbelievable! These are a little bit more on the spendy side for kippers but I will spend the money to buy a case of these at a time. They're that good!

Cans of fillets were delivered smashed and damaged

I really got myself hosed on this , i paid $33 FOR ONE yes ONE can of these Herring Fillets. They could be the best tasting ones on earth but $65 per pound still aint worth it . I honestly thought i was getting 18 cans , shame on me . Sure as hell won't happen again , buyer be ware
