DK Eyewitness Caribbean (Dk Eyewitness Travel Guide) Paperback – 20 Sept. 2016

This guidebook was already one of the best even in the old format, but I was infuriating that (like all major ones) they ignored Haiti, a poor country, but actually fascinating, unique and as safe to visit as it’s touristy neighbor, which actually has a higher crime rate. Fodor’s and Lonely Planet in newest editions still ignore Haiti, DK now covers it. The main cities, I’d add coverage of Port-de-Paix and Tortuga, for the adventurous, but Port-au-Propince, the south and Cap are nicely covered. Fun fact, their own site as of today does NOT mention Haiti as covered. They must have copy and pasted coverage from previous addition.Apart from being the first guidebook to add Haiti, the DK book is stellar. Good background info, nice and current practical info. Interesting insider tips and nice photography. Also newer editions are paperback and printed on ecologically friendly non glossy paper. Which doesn’t make the photos look worse at all, unlike some suspected, and yet drastically reduces the ecological footprint of DK guidebooks.

This was the perfect guide for Caribbean Island hopping.It gave an overview of all islands, we used it a lot.It was slightly different to other Eyewitness Guides I’ve purchased, in that it had few tourist site maps. However, this was due to the vast area covered and the need to describe most islands in a few pages.A great starting point though if you’re island hopping.

Bought this book used from Music Magpie. Excellent condition and arrived the day before the first quoted delivery day. Great service!The book has all the information I need to plan excursions on each of the islands we'll visit on our cruise in October 2023.

These are my go to guide books. So looking forward to navigating my way through the Caribbean with this thick volume

Love how book is divided into sections and give a little background on each area. Pictures bring the book alive as any DK book does.

Very helpful book for our recent trip

I absolutely loved this book! It brings out the best of every country (so no ignorant trash talk) despite political or social instability but without downplaying on essential safety measures!Went to Barbados about a month after a bought the book and found their reviews to be accurate of what the island is about and has to offer.It's an easy ready, keeping it short and snappy with lots! of pictures! Will continue to buy more off them!
