Limited keyboard/mouse support
I'm a software engineer and I occasionally work from home. I have a gaming PC with a Corsair Vengeance K70 keyboard, a Steelseries Rival mouse, and an LG 32" 1080p monitor. I wanted a KVM switch so I could switch between my work laptop and desktop without having to swap cables around. I have used cheap VGA KVM switches in the past and I didn't want to go that route again.I had some challenges getting my keyboard and mouse to work at all with this unit. The only way I was able to get the K70 keyboard to work was to put it in BIOS mode which disables all the advanced features. This also caused the scroll lock LED indicator to flash indefinitely. My mouse also did not work at all in the mouse port. I had to connect it through the K70's AUX USB port which was connected to the USB 2.0 port on the unit. This meant that I could not connect another peripheral to the unit. I decided to return the product because I had to give up too much. Overall it is a decent unit. It would likely meet the needs of anyone with a basic USB keyboard and mouse.PROS:- Keeps the connection alive when switching- HDMI picture quality is fantastic- Comes with all cables includedCONS:- Limited keyboard and mouse support- Power cord is only about 15 inches long- Very loud beeping sound when switching port

Works as advertised - Quality product
I needed a KVM to connect my Debian Linux home machine and my Windows 10 laptop which I use for business purposes. The devices are connected to a Samsung 32" monitor and use a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse set. The Windows machine goes through a USB 3 docking station and then to the KVM - the Debian is a direct connect. It was a very simple hookup - just connected the cables and everything worked perfectly. The only thing to mention is the remote that came with it (actually I did not know that it came with a remote). Instructions were minimal. I googled to find out the battery and basic operations. I do use the remote to switch between machines. It works great also. The switch between machines is really fast and the KVM keeps the connected devices (monitor, keyboard, mouse) up on the disconnected machine so that when you switch back it is really fast. It also passed the monitor information cleanly to each device and both easily recognized it.So in summary, no issues, smooth switching operations, decent remote, and solid performance. Also there are a number of ways to tile/rearrange the windows on both machines. Personally I use the windows key and left or right arrow to move a window to the left or right hand side of the screen. Both systems work essentially the same with this key combination. On the Windows machine, if you have more than 2 windows open it will display each of the other open windows and prompt you to select the 2nd window to arrange to the other side of the one you initially selected.I would highly recommend this product to others.Update: 2018-10-04 I noted something related to keyboards in the unit's operations that may be helpful to others. In my particular case, I noted that the hotkey operations (switch screens, beep control, etc) only appear to operate when the unit it attached to the keyboard usb connection. When attached to the generic usb connection, it does not recognize the hotkey operations. Connected to the generic usb does allow the advanced keyboard functions to work (music controls, launch calculator, mail, etc.) while connected to the keyboard usb disables the advanced functions. My preferred solution is to use the unit's remote to switch screens and connect the keyboard to the generic usb port to get the advanced keyboard functions. Still love the unit - very solid operations.

Works great, few minor complaints
I recently replaced a simple VGA switch with this KVM when I finally broke down and bought a new monitor. I'm very happy with the performance so far and only have a few small issues.SETUP: I'm using a VGA to HDMI adapter from my desktop PC as the main display and HDMI from my laptop to extend that display to the new monitor. I'm using a wireless keyboard/mouse combo from Logitech which works regardless of which USB slot I plug it into. I also have a printer plugged into the extra USB slot.PRO: The keyboard shortcut works great. The switch makes a rather loud beep when switching with either the keyboard shortcut or button on the switch, but I've read that can be turned off. There is almost no delay when switching displays, and being able to share one wireless keyboard/mouse and printer for two PCs is great!CONS: When I switch from the extended display from my laptop to the main display for my desktop, the laptop still acts as if the second monitor is active. Some people may find that a pro, but if I'm needing to use both I have to switch to duplicate displays on my laptop. Another issue I have is that there seems to be a little interference when using the wireless mouse from time to time, and I've read that can be resolved by using the extra USB slot but I'd have to dedicate the printer to one PC at that point. The only other small complaint I have is that the power cord supplied is very short...I could've used another 6-12 inches. I've heard some people say the lights are too bright, which they are, but I ended up mounting my switch on the back of my desk and use the keyboard shortcuts so that doesn't bother me at all.Overall a great switch, with simple plug and play setup. The display didn't work at first so I turned off both PCs, turned the switch on and powers everything back up and that resolved the issue.

Can't use keyboard and mouse at the same time
Any applications that might have you using the mouse with one hand and a keyboard with the other will work very poorly. To test, move the mouse in circles and note that keyboard events don't register until the mouse stops moving. Similarly, if you hold a key down and then start moving the mouse, then release it, the KVM won't pass the key release until the mouse stops moving. Among other things, this means this KVM unit is not suitable for switching between a gaming rig and a workstation.I've also had a lot of trouble getting some devices to recognize the 4K capable display when this KVM is attached, but I cannot prove that the KVM switch is responsible for that failure. Still, the inability to pass keyboard and mouse events at the same time justifies the 2* rating for me.EDIT: The other day, I accidentally bumped the F1 key after CTRLx2 instead of the 1 key. Whenever this happens the KVM switch locks up and screams until it's unplugged.EDIT 2: I did ultimately call reseller support, and spent a fair amount of time being assured that the problems I encountered with this unit didn't concern them and the firmware updates that fixed other users' units never existed. Down to 1 star for wasting my time. Turns out the reseller isn't actually affiliated with the manufacturer, who now sells directly in the US, meaning the only "benefit" of buying from the reseller is that you get lower quality support.

DOES NOT WORK
Mine works well in many regards. It however only passes along the basic keyboard commands. The caps lock, num lock, scroll lock, and special function keys, (like volumn), do not work. I tried multiple keyboards, borrowed and spares. All functioned perfectly when plugged directly into the PC. When I plug them into the switch, these functions no longer work.TESmart gave me a work around of plugging a powered USB hub into the switch and the keyboard into the USB hub. (Please note, using such a hub is in the setup video at the TESmart web site. I assume it is there because my problem is encountered by many). This work around fixed the num locks problem but disabled the multimedia keys and the hot key switching. It seemed no matter which way I plugged it in something would not work. I had to decide which keyboard functions to sacrifice.I tried many keyboards. I see there are several other reviews critical of missing keyboard capabilities. I think they are right. If you like the caps lock and num lock lights as well as your multi-media keys, plus the ability to jump between machines, you will be very disappointed in this switch.
