Good at making soft water! Horrible at staying together under pressure.
Works pretty well at making the water soft. In our area the water is so hard it leaves spots on everything. This filter helped make skin soft and soap lather. After saying the above I am very disappointed with its very cheap design. Two times the plastic (painted chrome) product burst open causing the showerhead and part of the filter and internal filter to fall to the shower floor. After putting the product back together and making sure it was sealed and not too tight, the filter again burst apart landing on my toe. Completely ruined my day. Reluctant to try it again possibly going to return it for a new one, but scared it could have happen to one of my kids.

This thing works!
Skeptical as most may be, I bought this on a whim because it was a Lightning Deal. Previous reviews said it was good, but I also found some anti-KDF filter reviews. I checked those out and they weren't entirely true. A KDF filter absolutely produces cleaner and more importantly softer water. It comes with a whole roll of Teflon tape, which you only need about a 4" length of, and the rest is just yours to keep. Installed in about 5 minutes, and I'd rate myself about 7/10 on the handyman skill. So still easy enough for most anyone to do.My wife said she loved it after just the very first shower. Her hair was wicked soft and so much shinier than before. We live with very hard water, which leaves mineral stains on the shower head, and also if I use the hose to wash my truck, I get water spots all over. Too bad it didn't work for the hose, because the showerhead is still clean and shiny after a few weeks. Also, we use a towel in the morning, and then let it dry for the next day. Without this, we got 2, maybe 3 showers before the towels just felt icky.. We're now getting 4-5 showers, which lowers the amount of towel laundry we do, saving a full load in the wash and dryer...which saves more water and more power/gas to run both.Oh, and you get a 2nd filter in the box, so you're good for up to a year. We plan on replacing the filter very 4 months to stay just ahead, as the replacements aren't that expensive either, only about $20 I believe.

Shower filter finally!
Prior to relocating to the PNW, I had a full-house water filter on the house that removed chlorine, fluoride, and everything else... Due to no space and limited funds, I was seeking someway to at least duplicate that in my shower here. I discovered this little filter unit and have been delighted with its performance, so far. I have had it up and running for a couple of months without issues! Will see how it goes! For the money, a deal! The company was also quick and helpful!

Best I've used-
I live in an area with very hard water and I have tried many different types of filter systems for my shower. This one is the best Ive used.Aesthetically, its perfect. It blends right in with my shower head unlike other large disc shaped filters. It is super easy to install and doesnt leak. The filter lasted twice as long as others before the iron stains started to appear again. I really noticed a difference in the color of my hair also-It is no longer brassy colored and dry. Highly recommend this filter-

Clear skin, who knew
I ordered this filter after spending over a hundred dollars on products to help my Rosacea. There is 83% more chlorine in the water in my city then in the city I lived previously. I can't believe it took me a year and a half to make the connection. My Rosacea started after I moved. My husband installed it, it only took him about a minute. The water pressure seems exactly the same. I've been using it for about a month and guess what... I had clear skin for Christmas. I'm not saying it's a complete cure, but it's made a very noticeable difference for me. Even my friends have noticed.I've been wanting to write this review for such a long time... I just didn't realize I would be praising a water filter.

Design flaw
Male thread pipe thread (end that is supposed to mate with shower head)is supposed to be a tapered pipe thread, but it is not. It is a straight pipe thread, which will not mate with shower heads (all have tapered pipe threads). In order to use, I had to file first 4 threads to a taper. Only after doing this, was I able to just barely attach shower head. Bad design not understanding what is standard in the U.S. plumbing industry. We use no straight pipe threads in household plumbing.

Easy to install
Easy to install, looks nice, simple enough. I do not test for chlorine removal so I have to take your word for that, it gives me peace of mind that I am doing something to get rid of the chlorine and stuff in my shower water. It is a dang sight more economical than the last one purchased, and looks better also. One does get an extra filter with this, and that is a bonus.

Defective Manufacturing Process
I have bought 2 of these at different times hoping the first was maybe just a defective unit. After both attempts, i am still having the same problem. The problem being that I am unable to screw shower head onto unit. The part that attaches to the water spigot attaches no problems, but the other seems to have the threads messed up (see pictures). The threads are defective (problem with manufacturing).Additionally, in case anyone doesn't realize this at purchase. The whole unit is plastic, not metal.I have returned both purchases of this unit for a refund and will not attempt a purchase of a 3rd.
