El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

A great alternate series finale (Spoilers from Breaking Bad)
El Camino is essentially an alternate series finale set and shown from Jesse's point of view. It picks up with him driving off after being freed from the Nazi compound (which was the last we saw of him). Then the story is told partly through flashbacks, showing his imprisonment and (mostly) interactions with Todd (played by the returning Jesse Plemmons) and partly in the present, as he tries to get out of New Mexico. Not only do we get cameos from Breaking Bad characters with Krystin Ritter, the aforementioned Jesse Plemmons, Jonathan Banks, Robert Forrester, and yes even Bryan Cranston making a cameo, we also get the return of Skinny Pete and Badger. We also get the definitive word on Walter White's ultimate fate. For those who get the blu-ray set, there are about an hour's worth of extras including a making-of feature, a gag reel, and deleted scenes. Plus, there is a commentary track on the film and storyboard sequences. A good amount for what is included, making the blu-ray a good pick up over just streaming. And, the A/V quality is great. Ultimately, it offers a satisfying alternate finale for the series, keeping true to what came before yet still telling an original story. It does take a bit of suspension of disbelief as all the people are older in real life, but are playing the same characters at the same time that the series aired. Aaron Paul does not look much different than he did, but Jesse Plemmons not only looks a lot older, he gained a lot of weight since BB went off the air. That aside, it is a great story and minor things like that are not a big deal. I definitely recommend it for any fans of BB.

A Quality Epilogue
Some say this is adds nothing to the narrative of Breaking Bad, I disagree. This post script sort of answers the trifecta:The conniving die.The young survive. The lawyer serves time. The final showdown is a western in every mantra and true to the dire facet. The exit for Jesse is so close, the last test, the measure of a man who has to earn his freedom.

It plays in America
The back has regions A, B, & C listed. It plays just fine on my 4k / blu ray player in America. Awesome movie!!

This steelbook is incredible. Very bold and powerful colors for this case that make it one of my favorite looking steelbooks. Came in perfect condition and arrived early.

Shipping fine, DVD not worth it
Amazon/seller did fine. Item came in a timely fashion. But just like other reviews will tell you, this movie did not add anything to the series and makes zero impact. I could have done without it, especially for paying $20 for it. This was probably just a way for the actors to make just a little more money off the series. Take it or leave it, but I recommend you leave it for the price because it just is kind of a waste. Not exciting or very interesting.

Overseas Region Code, but I'm glad to have it!
It seems this disc is unavailable in the United States. As I have a multi-region blu-ray player, I needed to purchase this from overseas. Still, the quality of the disc is excellent, and the video looks great. I'm very happy to have this!

A great ending for the Breaking Bad series.
I waited for the end of Better Call Saul to watch El Camino. This was a mistake. E.C. should be watched right after the final episode of B.B. as it is a continuation of that series. Though B.C.S. is part of that franchise, they are only connected by its common characters, but not really in the same timeline. I have not seen the final season of BCS and believe it will not have an impact on the EC story. Having said that, EC is a stand alone movie. Flashbacks of BB set the story and it was nice to see the band get back together for one final show. It is a 2 hour movie with everything the 2 series are known for. The background stories of some of the characters are fleshed out, explaining what they did in BB. EC is not an over the top version of BB, but a well written story post the final episode escape. Great acting from the Skinny Pete farewell to the single tear. This movie is worth the price...totally enjoyable. Small bits of humour mixed with a lot of excitement. I believe that those who love BB will love this movie. Trust me.
