A Testament to Language and Form
Robert Hass's Praise captures the beauty and complexity of everyday moments with striking precision. His poems blend intellectual depth with clear, vivid imagery, making each piece a poignant exploration of human experience. This collection is a must-read for anyone seeking to appreciate the nuanced power of contemporary poetry.

I was hoping for something that spoke to me better
It seems like there is a Robinson Jeffers influence on some of the poems in this book. The only poem that stood out for me was "The Beginning of September." Despite Hass's references to birds and art, this collection didn't speak to me in a way that I had hoped. It appears I'm something of an outlier here in my evaluation of these poems: 3.4 stars rounds down to 3.

Poetry for non-poetry lovers.
This book is amazing. Sorry I'm not as eloquent as the author. He can set your mind in a specific scene with a handful of words. These poems are visual, not as much emotional. Novel and short story writers could learn so much from this poetry. I don't like poetry and I've read this book more than 20 times. Each time is mind blowing.

Praise
Of course I enjoyed it. It is the kiondof poetry that can be opened anywhere and the lines will resonate.
