Some tech can be dangerous
In "The Lost Tech," author Vaughn Heppner sends his hero Captain Maddox again into the grinder, this time to save earth from a potent weapon that could wipe it out. The weapon, referenced in the title, boasts an ancient pedigree, a piece of the arsenal left throughout space by the seemingly extinct Builders. An enhanced human who wants to destroy humanity to preserve the integrity of planets and space won the race to master the new tech, and at first Maddox has no idea even where to launch his investigation. The trail had gone cold. But Maddox, and Heppner, don't stew for long. This is a Lost Starship novel, and the 13th in the series doesn't disappoint. Maddox heads into new challenges. The writer ramps up the difficulties faced by the Star Watch agent and his crew to new heights. He brings on pretty nasty creatures that may present problems in future installments. And he keeps the series fresh. I had been on a Maddox binge as I had let the series slide while I tackled new novels with my latest job as a high school librarian. But over the summer, I read the remaining novels in the series. I felt serious disappointment at the conclusion of this one, since I'd already read No. 14.

Fading rapidly
Author should be consistent with his characters, initially Maddox is half new man and very focussed etc, at the start of in book 14 he becomes an emotional wreck about his grandmother. Author just keeps adding small bits of mystery to this series that in the first few books was brilliant, keeping Meyers and Strand there are just means to keep on slogging away at this starting to become a boring series. However, the most irritating fact is that tired old useless people like Cook get to reprimand Maddox, the saviour of the whole human race many times over and stim smoking Stokes gets promotions but Maddox not. Absolutely totally not realistic

Excellent reading!
I have been away from this series for several months but I just gobbled up the last 3 books. I love this crew and really enjoy the allies and enemies of mankind that inhabit these books. Like the others book 13 was very enjoyable and I really liked the final mission that Victory went on to Sigma 9 Alpha to wrap up ole Commodore Smits and his gang of miscreants, a great way to wind down and end the book.Hurry up and crank out the next one Vaughn! Maybe the New Men can face a calamity or 3 in the next book. He'll, you never know what or who is going to crawl out from under a rock this universe lol.

It still continues!
Captain Maddox and co are at it again! Lisa Myers has a plan to destroy all of humanity. However, a small snag must be corrected. On Earth High Lord Admiral Cook has resumed control of Star Watch and begun cleaning house.Captain Maddox is sent on another mission to capture or kill Lisa Myers. Another adventure begins …I would like to see Captain Maddox refreshed after a long vacation and back on a Victory upgraded with heavy metal armament. The Iron Lady should resume her position. Then let the universe take note!

Great series!
I have enjoyed this series. Sometimes the author can get over redundant, but this book was not. The action was hard hitting and final and the decisiveness Mattox and crew was on point. Even the enemy had a believable level of competency. All in all, a good read.

Book13 and still a great story
First off . how many people read 13 books and look forward to 14? Few authors I've read can do this. But aren't we lucky to have them.. The alot for wall of three great stories

Even better than the last 12 books in the series!
I am not sure how VH keeps cranking these out but I’m glad he’s doing it… it always amazes me how he finds some new adventure that captivates me more and more each time. Hope the series continues and really don’t want it to end.

I love these books. Thanks Vaughn for another wonderful story.
I truely enjoy these novels, the writing, the characters and the situations they have to solve. There is only one thing I hate, having to wait for the next to be released. I highly recommend the entire series.

Loose ends
Great story, great reading but finishes with some loose ends especially Lisa Meyers. Where is she, what's she now up to? And then there is Strand. Is he safely locked up for the rest of his life?

No Brain candy for me with this book
Normally I cant put these books down, however this one didn't seem to have that magic pulling power, although a great book it wasn't brain candy for me, soz VH, maybe a bit more mystery and open ended questions needed for the next one.

Left Over Weapons From An Ancient War
It seems that after saving the Commonwealth from one threat only means another takes it's place. This time it's a left over weapon from an ancient war. Once again it's a great tale of intrigue and adventure from one of the best sf writers of the last decades. Maddox is starting to come under pressure from the unrelenting missions to save the day. He may be super human but even the offspring of the new men have limits. A series well woth a read if you like intrigue and space adventure mixed with exploration.
