Interesting protag but...
I liked the protagonist and was looking forward to her escapades as a 'player'. But it didn't quite work out that way. The book ended abruptly just when things were beginning to get interesting...sigh!

Single Cell Organisms have more wit.
And certainly lead more interesting lives.I was looking for an easy read and though "lets give this one a try". Three chapters on I still had to crack a smile.I, however, persevered a bit longer; hoping perhaps the main character would develop a wit or, heavens' forbid, a brain. When every handsome man within 100 miles started tripping over one another to knock at her door, I had it.I deleted the book wishing her enough money to pay for the psychotherapist she would certainly need in a near future with her penchant for high heels, and went looking for a heroine whose life was more than just a burden on limited resources.

A true chick lit read!
This book was funny, entertaining and exactly what a chick lit book should be about! The main character, Clara was a typical female who kept getting herself into all sorts of embarrassing situations that most women can relate to.I thoroughly enjoyed the developing relationship between Clara and her American love, Oliver especially the first meet in the bar with vomit in her hair! I always knew things would work out for her, but the bumpy road which she had to take to get there, was well worth the read.I felt this book was well written with a good pace and hilarious humour! The chapters were very short which kept me wanting to read more and it didn't go overboard with too much slush and girlyness!I would recommend the Clara Andrews series to anyone wanting a light-hearted read with lots of laughs and "oh no" moments and will definitely be finishing the series myself!5 out of 5 stars

Light hearted and just a bit silly
While I have to say that I did enjoy reading this book about Clara and her friends, I did find some of the continuity errors a little annoying. I had to check back a couple of times to see if I was mistaken or just confused. The worst for me was when Clara meets Lianna to tell her what has happened and goes through the whole story from the beginning with her, even though we know she had already told her and Marc about it a few evenings earlier. I won't be reading the other books in the series as, disappointingly, the synopsis of each one right through to the last one is at the end of this book, so I know what will happen to Clara and her friends right up to the end of the series. Unless there are any unexpected twists, but having read this first book I can honestly say I don't think anything unexpected will be happening at all.

Prepare to fall in love with Clara Andrews... a genuine review by a 30-something tequilaholic readaholic
The ultimate modern-day love story...The first thing about Clara that gripped me was the fact I can see a little of myself in her, and I think most women would agree. Clara is far from perfectly - but she is perfectly normal. She is on the shorter side, with crazy curly hair, loves her food, is partial to a tequila, has great friends and isn't above rocking up to work with a nauseating hangover after a night out! Pretty much everything you could want in a friend!Oliver, although far from typical, is simply captivating. You can hear his accent, picture his reactions and I love the fact that he is a man that knows what he wants and that he wont give up until he gets it!Without revealing too much, the romantic tension that builds up throughout the book is compelling. I have read this book multiple times and I have NEVER managed to not read it in a single sitting. Even though I know what's coming I simply cannot put it down until the end!! And even then, I have to drag myself away before starting the next book in the series.Lacey London is a writing sensation. This book is laugh out loud funny, and I OMG'd throughout. Clara is the first and one of the only chick-lit characters I have totally and utterly fallen in love with, and after reading the first book, I guarantee you will too.

Okay, but oddly edited
To me this seems like a longer book that has been edited down. In my view the character elaboration is poor which impacted on my engagement with the characters and the ending is too abrupt (disappointingly so). The story is okay and the parts that have more detail I enjoyed, however some parts of the text felt like a chunk was missing from the story, at times I even flipped back pages thinking I had skipped ahead but I hadn't.. I read it to the end but it has put me off reading the others in the series and I particularly like book series with the same characters. Personal taste I guess, but I wouldn't recommend it. I have scored 3 because of the price point. In this situation I really did get what I paid for.
