I was tired of digital thermometers being fickle and running low on batteries. This is a great, inexpensive solution.

Seems accurate compared to my others and it's faster. Seems rugged and well made.

Not awesome

Bought two of these and calibrated them on the same pot of boiling water. Both read 212 at boil, but one reads 73 ambient while the other right next to it reads 67... Real temp was 70.... 3 degree variation isn't ideal for a brewer. Also, they are quite flimsy and I expect that I'll break them in short order, probably with the brew kettle lid.-EDIT- after several batches, they are no longer even close to accurate. After setting them at boiling point, confirmed by digital, placed in cooling wort where both read 78 degrees, digital (and by touch) said 140 degrees.... TOTAL JUNK - THROWN OUT BEFORE THEY COST ME A BATCH OF BEER.

I’d try to measure water temperature @ 170 Fahrenheit but true value was 182 and the 2nd one 178. Unfortunately for mashing temperature I need a 1% maximum error. Other problem shipment took 3 weeks and had to pick it up at USPS for no reason approved by me.
