Great software; not a great choice for causal players
This is a great piece of chess software for serious players; but as a commercial game product for people who just want to play for fun it falls a bit short. The old Chessmaster game was much better in ease of use and simple menus; Komodo has a frustrating menu so that just setting up a simple game is a chore. It is also inexcusable in this day and age that a pdf file of the game manual isn't part of the installation. Honestly if all you want to do is play for fun against a good chess engine, get the free Shredder chess program on your ipad.

Playing tennis against a wall
Nice to know I possess a program that can beat Magnus or Nakamura with the black pieces giving them d4, e4, Nf3 and the move

Plays Great But Could Use Better Interface
I'm a longtime Chessmaster user, and as such the interface for Komodo is a big disappointment to me. It should be a much more direct and intuitive process to set up and play a game against the AI.

I have to say I have Komodo 11. 2 ...
I have to say I have Komodo 11.2 and it is very strong. I purchased it from the Komodo website. You can get a free graphic user interface which is called GUI called Arena 3.5 from the Arena website and load Komodo into it. You can also download a free chess engine called Stockfish 9 and load it into Arena. Stockfish is just as strong as Komodo and it's free and on long games such as 30 minute games Stockfish is stronger. Unless you are a Grandmaster there's no chance in beating these 2 engines. Chess engines won't work without a GUI and chessbase GUI is not the only one the Komodo chess engine will work on. It will also work on Arena.
